ok - Target has Archer Farm deli meat on sale here and I also have a coupon. We need it to make sandwiches.

I need to buy it while it's on sale.

I posted on the budget board but got no response.

I need to know if you can freeze deli meat, how, and for how long will it stay good.

Thank you.

I have frozen deli meat ~ both the slice to order meats and the prepackaged meats ~ but for only about a month. I put the slice to order stuff in a zip loc bag and try to force as much air out of is as I can. The prepackaged deli stuff, I just throw it in the freezer in its' sealed packaging. :flower3:

I used to freeze some types of deli meat, but never really cared for it...and DH hated it! Chicken got kind of rubbery and ham is so full of water that it almost needed to be blotted with a paper towel. We decided it just wasn't worth it.

Oh - and I tried freezer bags, Tupperware, freezer boxes (like you'd use when you make homemade applesauce) and just about anything else you can think of! ;) Of course this was years ago. We haven't tried it recently, so meats may have changed & freeze better. :confused3

Now I just freeze the last of the baked ham (slices & chopped for ham salad), turkey I've roasted & I'll cook chicken and shred it for salad or other recipes. In the long run it's cheaper than deli meat anyway - even with a great sale. ;)

I make up a whole loaf of tuna mayo sandwiches and freeze them individually, then pull one out for work. Also works with salmon mayo and leftover roast meat (or those pre-cooked fillets) but not sliced meat - I'm not keen on it anyway.

If its too good an offer to miss I might make a quiche lorraine and freeze it. ;)

What a great idea. I have never froze sandwiches.
