Hi all,
My husband and I have a trip planned for June. We are taking my 10 year old daughter, she does know about the trip however she does not know my best friend and her daughter (who is also my daughters best friend) will be joining us. We are trying to come up with a way to suprise both girls. Any ideas would be great!
We will be driving, we thought about telling them the day of, but my friend and I are so excited, I don't think we would be able to keep the suprise that long. We are going to get a pool house offsite.

Wow - what a great surprise!

We surprised our girls on Christmas morning with a scavenger hunt around the house. They loved searching for clues. May also work for a 10 year old.

Would like to see what others have done.

Are you all flying together? Driving together? Could you wait until you are at the airport and have them see each other? OR do you want to tell them sooner?

How about having someone from the DISigns forum help create a "WDW 2007" shirt or "My first trip to WDW" (if it is a first time). Then, give the shirt to DD. When she mentions how much she likes it, ask her if she thinks her friend would want one too. Present the friend with her shirt & see how long it takes for them to question it.

I bought a Disney puzzle off of EBAY and will write the surprise message in marker on it....they will see if after they get it all put together. We are doing a scavenger hunt to "find" all the pieces. I bought a 30 pc puzzle because our children are younger, but you could get a more challenging puzzle for a 10 year old. I was shocked at the amount of Disney puzzles on EBAY!! Really cool ones!

Have fun!

The scavenger hunts and t-shirts are great ideas and maybe you could do the shirts as a prize for the hunt. You could take them to your local Disney store and have them buy something matching to wear or use in Disney and tell them then or have a CM (are they called cast members if they work in an off-site Disney store?) who works there tell them. You can even videotape them getting the news.

Personally, I think that the anticipation and planning for the trip is almost as much fun as the trip itself. :hyper2: I get a new Disney book every year and we all go through it. We bought a Disney trivia book this year for our trip at the end of June and we take it everywhere we go!!

As much fun as it would be to surprise them the morning of the trip, I think that the girls will have fun helping you plan the trip, packing, etc. I have an 11yr old daughter and she is very nosey and would ask many quesions about something I was being so secretive about. :listen: She would drive me crazy!!! I would want to make sure she was surprised and didn't put together all of the little clues with her friend to ruin it. (That's my daughter! ...Maybe yours is better!) Whatever you decide to do, you'll all have a great time together!! Have fun and enjoy!!
