Help! I need birthday party favor ideas on a budget!

For my daughters princess party I made flower crowns using pipe cleaners, hot glued on a few fake flowers (get them by the bunches at dollar store) and then tied ribbon on to flow down the back. For the boys I got gold glitter card stock and cut out crowns.

One of the favors my daughter got at a Rapunzel party was also an activity. They cut triangles out of green foam, glued two the edges together and stuck a party blower and drew a face on it to look like the lizard. Don't know if I explained this well but it was a cute themed thing to do.

I know you are looking for ideas, but have you asked yourself if you really need them at all?

I know kids have gotten to expect them, but most of the stuff goes directly in the trash. Having fun at the party and getting a sugar high are all they really need anyway.

Sidewalk chalk with a thanks for coming label...just in case you can't find the watercolor paint. I like the crayons and coloring pages idea, too.

We stopped doing goody bags and favors years ago, thank goodness.

Get a bunch of paddle-style hair brushes and a few paint pens (from a craft store). personalize the hairbrushes for each of the kids. Like this You can probably get the brushed at the dollar store. Cute - and follows the theme.

Cute idea, butI'd take it further and let the kids do their own at the party.

For our last few birthday parties I bought the large hershey bars and printed wrappers for them. I googled "print your own candy bar wrapper". Very cheap, easy, and No trinkets to float around your guests house until mom throws them in the trash!

Google Oriental Trading Company. Super cheap and I believe they do have Disney stuff as well as a bunch of other kids' stuff.

Buy the Rapunzel soundtrack and then burn a bunch of cd's for the kids to addd to their mp players. The sound track is under $10.

My daughter went to a birthday party and came home with a themed cupcake!! It was a princess and the frog party and she had a frog cupcake...she LOVED it!! I'm sure you could find a cute lizard cupcake or princess of some kind on google...it's cheap and cheerful!!!!

My kids are young 2-5.. I tend not to get goodie bags but what I did for both thier parties this year was a treat to go home. One we did a cupcake to go, and the other was cookie to go. I also bought them each a balloon from the Dollar Store. The balloon to them is the most exciting part. They have tons of different themes at our Dollar stores. We still have treats at the party but the to go treats have been a huge hit.

I make my own Hershey bar wrappers. I have been doing it for years & I can tell you I hate the new one piece wrappers with the little fringe on the side but I have adjusted my sizing & just wrap the candy bar like a present.

I have also given out ice cream coupons for our local ice cream shop. I think it cost me $3/kid & it came with one topping. So that & a Hershey bar.

Last year for my son I did squinkies since they were big & our toy store had these cute kids chop sticks so I did them & a candy bar. I know there was one or 2 other things in there as well.

I can tell you I don't put in the little crap that gets sold in bags of 10 at Walmart/Target/Party goods stores. I can't stand that stuff.
