Hello Everyone,

If this post is best suited in another section, please tell me where to post it.

My fiance & I are planning to go on our honeymoon to WDW & Universal studios starting around July 23, 2012 until about August 3. These dates are flexible but the earliest we can leave is the 23rd. We are 23 years old and have been to WDL before.

I would like opinions as to how many days we should spend in each park from WDW & Universal, along with any waterparks or beaches. Here is a little info to help. My fiance had a bad back injury so we do not go on the extreme rides such as roller coasters with loops in them or big drop rides, also we take more breaks than normal so it may take longer to see the park. We will stay most nights until close time. We want to take our time as it is our honeymoon and we realize going to the parks during the week is better so it is not as busy. We would also like to do a bit of outlet shopping, maybe a day or half day at a waterpark & a day or half day at a beach. Should we rent a car? Is it best to stay at a regular hotel, disney resort or a timeshare condo? I can get my hands on a timeshare condo for pretty cheap. If you say "I need a total of for example 10 days to spend in Florida" I will assume that is not including travel days. It is a long flight so the travel days I dont think we would be doing much.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Tom

Congrats! I am not a Disney expert at all but we are ride wimps so I think I can answer some questions. I am not sure Universal is for you. We barely go on anything because a lot of the rides have drops or are too intense for us and a lot of them say not to go on if you have a bad back or are prone to motion sickness. We are beginning to think it's a waste of money. Have you thought about Sea World? They give an extra day free. We don't go on any rides there except for the motion sim which has a walk through area you can bypass the ride and just see the animals. There are shows and animal exhibits and many areas to sit. We don't go to water parks so I don't know how much time you would need. How long is your plane ride? Depending on how long the flight is and how tired you are maybe go to DTD for dinner and walk around or go to a park for an evening parade or show. Hopefully you are getting a park hopper so you have the flexibility to go to a park during the day and go to a different park for the evening show or if you decide you want to go back to a park you visited and spend more time there. For us we only need about a half day or slightly longer for DHS and AK so I would allow a day for each. I would allow 2 days each for MK and EPCOT. If you go to Universal or Sea World I would recommend a car or you can use Mears for shuttle service. We have done it both ways and I like the car better. If you decide to only do Disney attractions and are staying on property I would recommend just using the bus, boat, or monorail. Where are you staying?

I am sorry about that. It posted before I could finish and won't let me edit.
I was trying to ask if you decide to stay on Disney property what resorts are you thinking of? I would recommend staying on property. I believe the nearest beach is an hour away. We are not beach people so I do not know if it is worth the drive. If you have any more questions I will try to answer the best I can. Good luck!

The main reason for wanting to go to Islands of Adventure and Universal were Harry Potter and to see shows. We enjoyed Universal in Cali. I am not sure where we are staying yet. I was thinking a Disney Resort for conveniance, possibly a value or moderate with dining plan. Our flight is 6-9 hours depending on lay overs. We live in Alberta, Canada. Neither of us do well with flying which is the reason I said the 2 travel days will probably be write offs. I don't think we would like Sea World, maybe you can give your opinion. My fiance is pretty claustrophobic, so doesn't like to walk beside where the glass tanks are looking at fish. Do you think Sea World would have any shows or rides we woud like? My thoughts were like yours, 2 days each at MK and Epcott. 1 day at Hollywood, 1 day or 3.4 day at a waterpark, 1 day AK and then maybe a beach day with outlet shopping. If we finished DHS or AK sooner than 1 day we would probably relax or do DTD. Plus 1 day islands , 1 day universal(Maybe) I am not sure about the hopper passes. If its worth doing it for the reason you stated, going to park during the day then another park at night to do shows I may.

Thanks for the help

As for the beach we may not go. If we really want to we will find a way to get there one way or another.

Thanks!

I have never had the pleasure of visiting your part of Canada. The few parts I have seen have been wonderful. We are big Harry Potter fans and that's why we went this past trip to IOA. Unfortunately there are 3 rides and none would suit you. You can take a castle tour without going on FJ. There are also some shops to go in and restaurants. The rest of IOA is rides you would not go on. Universal Studios is different from the one in CA. It is pretty small with rides you would not go and a few shows plus some shops and restaurants. There is no tour. Sea World has a lot of shows in large and small stadiums. Some exhibits are pretty open and some are in areas she would not like. The only rides there are a few roller coasters and log flume ride. And a motion simulator. I would stay on Disney property. I have never stayed in value but the 2 mods of Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans French Quarter were nice. POFQ would be more romantic and compact. It is a short walk to Port Orleans Riverside where you can get a carriage ride. There is also a boat to Downtown Disney. You can visit the food court at POR or use the pool as well. I always get the park hopper due to the flexibility.
