This is the pillow sham from our new comforter set. The comforter itself is the main part of the sham, the bed skirt is the green along the edge of the sham and it also has Euro Shams in the same green but I am not sure that I will use those.

Any paint chip that we hold up next to it seems to look so green. I keep looking to the safe tan colors. At first we were thinking of a darker green, but because of the green around the edge, it seems like it would clash to much. Also in the set it came with sheers that are a greenish as well. So with that against the wall too, it may look strange. But then again, it may not.

I have the whole Sherwin Williams color block and I feel like I have looked through it so many times, I have it memorized. I have thought about SW Blonde or SW Restrained Gold, but again, not a clue.

We have dark cherry furniture and new carpet that is tanish. The room only has 2 windows and by 12 gets not much sunlight. Just trying to give any details in the room.

Thanks so much for any help!!! I just have no decorating sense at all. Our whole house has been painted white for the last 10 years and all the sudden we are going to color in almost every room! Which don't get me wrong, I LOVE! It is so nice and refreshing and I am almost embarassed that it has taken so long to do this. I am just so afraid to pick it out and I have to tell the painter ASAP.

Try Benjamin Moore's Scarecrow. #1042. If my monitor has the right colors it will be perfect with your bedding.

OK, it looks like a sage green on the sham, is that right? Do not do dark green. In a dark room that ends up looking too dark with cherry.

My sister has oak and has the hunter dark green paint, which looks good because of the light furniture.

Match up the paint color with your furniture and not your comforter. The reason I say this is because you will be changing your comforter before you ever change your paint.

I have cherry furniture in my family room. What has looked good with it are tans on the yellow hue & deep golds (esp. for a dark room, it will look tan believe it or not). I would rather "pop" out the color in the comforter with tan/golds, than try to match it to those colors.

Greens look better with sunlight and ligher colors. While I love greens, you have to have the right light otherwise it looks muddy.

Anyway, that is my 2 cents. I am sure you will get a lot of opinions since it so personal.;)

Go with a deep gold. It will look better with cherry furniture than green will.

Can you get to a Benjamin Moore store? I don't have a SW deck handy but I'm thinking Moore's Great Plaines Gold or Fairway Oaks if you need a little lighter. Really anything on the 5 chip card.

They also have a color called Fennel Seed that works with just about everything. It has a more peach base (while NOT being peach) that would tone down the green. It is also neutral enough that it would go with anything. Also on that 5 chip is a color called Sundial which is nice. I bit on the yellow side for my personal tastes but it is also very neutral.

Out of their beiges and tans I've used:
Sierra Hills
Stone House
Bar Harbor Beige
- all in various houses

Sherwin Williams does have all these colors in their computer if you can't get to Benjamin Moore and want to have them make samples.

I used Fennel Seed on the ceiling the the family room, our kitchen ceiling and the hallway of our old house. It is a very soft color but it might be too yellow for that fabric.

We have stone house on the ceilings in this house (used it in our old house too). We also have it on the walls in our master bathroom. That is a nice color as well. The rooms that have the Stone House on the ceiling have Scarecrow on the walls. It is 3 colors down on the same paint chip.

Here is a picture of our kitchen bump-out with Scarecrow on the walls, Stone House on the ceiling;

With cherry furniture, I would go with a tan or gold. If you bring the pillow sham to Sherwin Williams, they can color match for you. Something that goes with the yellowish/gold stripe would be nice.

We have SW blonde in our foyer and stairwell. It shows up on the walls a little more yellow than the chip. It is a great color, but I'm wondering if it would blend in too much with your comforter. I'm sorry I don't have a photo to share. We have standard wood floors, and have black picture frames on the walls which really pop with the blonde paint

My suggestion would be to pick a couple of colors and buy samples from SW. Put them each on the wall and see which you are happiest with. It is not that expensive and an easy way to not get stuck with a color you don't like

We did purchase a few colors to put on the wall. We used Believable Buff which was okay, Kilim Beige which my son was going to use in his room but may be switching to Nomadic Dessert and then Interactive Cream which was WAY to pinky/peach for us.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I really appreciate it!!!!
