I am not sure if anyone here can help, but here goes.

My DH and I decided last year that this September we would take our kids and DS's GF to London for our family trip this year. We booked our airfare with British Airways and booked a 3BR apartment in London with a private rental company (based in the US). I paid a 50% deposit on the apartment on October 23, 2019.

On April 2nd, I received an email from the rental company that due to the Covid-19 crisis, that the company had filed for Dissolution. They indicated that they would be allocating the final financial profit between lease holders and rental customers and those checks should be sent by the first week of May. Needless to say we didn't get any check.

I know it is too late to do a chargeback through my credit card (isn't 60 days the limit?). Does anyone know how I would go about suing? Would I file in my state? Would I file in their state? I work for an attorney, but we don't do this type of civil law. They were registered as an LLC if that makes any difference. Is it even worth it for $1,300?

I am just hoping that ultimately we can get a refund for the airline tickets. My DH wanted us all to sit together so I purchased 5 tickets for Premium Economy, which was a huge expense! I am just waiting for BA to deal with September trips. I have y fingers crossed for a refund, but may have to get vouchers for future travel.

I’m no expert here but if it were me I’d try my credit card company anyway. You paid in October but you were canceled in April and didn’t receive your money back. It wouldn’t hurt to try. All they can say is ‘no’ right?

That is true. I will have to look up how to do a chargeback. I checked online and I can't just click "dispute this charge." I will have to call Chase I guess.

Can I ask if the company was London Connection? I’m no help with any of your questions, but we used them last summer and loved them. If it is, I’m so sad they are losing their business and I hope you can get a full refund.

I was able to do a chargeback through Chase for a charge I paid in February for an Alaskan cruise in June. I was beyond the 60 days; the matter was resolved on Friday. The charge has been credited to my card and is now mine free and clear.

We usually fly United, no refunds, but now they are offering a credit that expires in a year. I don’t know how you would sue for non refundable tickets. My sister and I paid $10,000+ for a week beach rental through Airbnb, as of now the town in not allowing short term rentals, but airbnb says the renters and rentees have to work it out.

how far out has British Airways addressed as of now? Dates I mean.... is summer travel being refunded to London at all?

Is there a reason you can't still use the airline tickets?

Definitely try a chargeback..... the 60 day rule is different for purchases such as future hotel stays and airline tickets, it's x amount of days from the date that the service is expected to be rendered, not purchase date.

****edited to add that I'm also pretty sure time limits start at 120 days from purchase or expected date of service, so you have more time than 60 days

Hello- I'm sure you're referring to London Connection as I received that same email unfortunately. We paid out 850 deposit last August for a week. We have disputed this with our credit card company even though we are considerably past the limit, these are extraordinary circumstances. They said they are investigating, so we will see if anything comes of it. There is a sizable thread on Rick Steves travel forum- England discussing this company. You can get alot of information there. I have lodged a complaint with Utah Attorney General, Utah Dept of Consumer protection(London Connection was based in Ogden UT). Their website, instagram, page on Facebook, all gone. They don't respond to emails, phone calls, they have disappeared with everyone's money. It truly sucks!

I will be calling Chase tomorrow. I was at work today.

I am not trying to sue for the airline tickets, just the apartment rental. Sorry if I was confusing.

BA is only dealing with refunds for travel through May 31st.

We may still be able to use the tickets since they are extending vouchers through April 30, 2022.

Thank you, I will try tomorrow.

Yes, it is London Connection. Thank you for the info on the Rick Steves Travel Forum - England. I will look into it.

Yes, try your credit card chargeback again. There is a form you can complete and send in if it is after the 60 day limit.

Just as a follow-up (I hate when there is no resolution to a thread), I spoke to Chase today and they gave me a provisional refund of the full amount. It will take at least 30 days to get a final answer. I do have copies of my reservation, their email re: Dissolution and my email making a demand for a refund, so fingers crossed.
