My family has a trip planned in June. In the past, we've usually slotted 2 days to book an overnight stay at a US hotel and see both parks. This year, we're trying to cut costs. Since we're DVC owners, we're going to stay on Disney property and then hop over to the "dark side" for 2 days during our trip. I'm hoping that going to US/IoA during weekdays may help.

Anyway, since we're staying at DVC and we're NOT planning to buy the Express passes (we're a family of 6 and the cost is $60 per person per day during our trip....cost prohibitive). Any suggestions for us? I know this is kind of crazy to go this way, but we didn't want to skip US/IoA altogether. We are all coaster riders so I know it's going to be tough. Suggestions? Order of rides? I'm assuming HP World first off in IoA. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Alot will depend if the Harry Potter expansion is up and running when you go.If it is, it wont matter which days you go, crowds will be very very heavy. If it isnt,be there BEFORE rope drop ready to go. I would hit harry Potter first at IOA .

Another little tip is to use single ride line when possible. I'm not sure of the ages of your group but lots of rides at Universal have single rider capabilities.

I agree. If it looks like the expansion will be open when we are there (June 11th-19th) then we MAY have to reevaluate our decision for no hotel stay or Express Passes for those days. :scratchin We are HUGE Harry Potter fans! :hyper:pixiedust:

Just FYI, if you didn't already know or whatever, when the first Harry Potter section the main ride didn't, and still doesn't, accept Express, but the other 2 rides over there do. No telling if/when the new section will accept Express, but we can always hope they might! :goodvibes

Thanks! You're right! I guess I was thinking that we could use the Express to help shorten the wait for the other rides. Frankly, just booking a room at UA (actually 2 rooms for us) would be cheaper AND we get the extra hour! But....$$$$ either way!
