I know I've posted before about scorpions, but this is ridiculous!

I found a scorpion in our house last night. This makes SIX in less than six months INSIDE the house. They are absolutely the ugliest, creepiest, scariest-looking creatures in the entire world.:scared1: Well,to me anyway.

Granted, four of the six were dead when I found them, but they had to be alive inside the house at some point. The first time we found a scorpion, we were on the phone to a pest control company, and we now have regular service. We have a cat (they are supposed to be a good thing as far as scorpions are concerned, and in fact, he was the one that found one of the alive scorpions-bless him!) we have nothing around the perimenter of the house that might attract scorpions-no bushes, woodpiles, citrus trees, water, etc. We have a mesquite tree, but we cut back the branches on a regular basis so that it isn't overhanging near the roof of the house.

We are living in an area about twenty miles south of Tucson (Green Valley/Sahuarita area). My question, to those that might know, is this particular area known for an overabundance of scorpions?!?!???!??!! The lease on our house is up in June, and at this point, we are packing and moving. I will not stay in this house!

I am so happy that we haven't purchased a house out here yet. I think we need more time to find a suitable area! Our daugher and son-in-law live about an hour from us and they have never seen a scorpion. Our son-in-law has lived in Arizona his entire life and has NEVER seen a scorpion anywhere near his house.

Anyone familiar with any areas around Tucson that DON'T have a lot of scorpions? I know WE are in their habitat, but THEY don't need to visit MY house!:scared1:

Sorry to hear about your ongoing problems, thought I'd give you a little bump to get you back up top.

No scorpions here they wouldn't make it through the 18 inches of snow we had over the weekend.

We live in Phx and have never had a scorpion in our house either (knock on wood). I agree they are the scariest bug ever :scared1:

I do have them at my office though....our neighborhood is in a very established greenbelt and there isn't construction going on...so we are lucky.

I would complain to your pest company...although since they are dead when you find them..that is a good thing. but....

I have heard that you can get your house sealed against scorpions...look up in the yellow pages for a company that does that. I know most people do that to the newer homes so they can eliminate the bugs from their homes.

good luck

I lived in Vail for a year or so and I'm up in the Phoenix area now. When we were in Vail we had one scorpion in our house, but I think it only was around because they were digging up the lot next to ours while building a new house. That was the only time I have ever seen one. I did see a few tarantulas OUTSIDE though. We just mostly had a lot of crickets. Up here though I really haven't seen much in the way of bugs at all. There were a few black widows around the foundation of our house when we moved in, but really nothing at all besides that.

I'm a Tucson native although I live in Colorado now. The rest of my family is still in Tucson in the Ventana Canyon area on the north east side and in Oro Valley on the northwest side. The only time my family has had a scorpion in the house is one time about 10 years ago my brother was bit by one in his garage in the Ventana Canyon area but that is the only time we/they have had any scorpions. Like a previous poster said, we've had lots of tarantulas-mostly in the carports and some lizzards but no other scorpions that I know of.

Thanks so much, everyone! From what I'm hearing here and from other people, I'm thinking we're in an area that has more scorpions than most areas in Arizona. I guess it's time to start scouting other locales.:headache:

When we do (or IF we do) decide to buy a house out here, we'll most certainly have it sealed against all things crawly!
