Don't know if this is the best place for this thread, but I thought I'd givie it a try...

I know that my DS would LOVE to get into the whole pin-trading thing. Right up his alley. However, this is one aspect of Disney life that I know very little about.

We are going down in late January, so I am planning on getting him a lanyard and several "starter" pins for Christmas. How/where do I even begin? I know that there are tons of "lots" on eBay...is this a good way to start? He is only 7, so I definitely don't want to spend a ton of money on LEs, etc.

Any suggestions welcome...

I got mine on ebay and it worked out very very well. I bought enough for me and the two kids I went with (8 each I think) and then the kids bought special ones with their own money when they couldnt trade for them.

It is addicting though

You can definitely get some pins on EBAY but be careful of the ones you buy. If a deal seems to good to be true....

Sedesma pins from Spain appear to be a topic of controversy because while licensed by Disney there appears to be some question as to whether CM's will trade for them.

You can find some starter sets on EBAY that includes the lanyard, as well as people selling off lots. I generally go to the Cast Exclusive page and look there as those will be almost always tradeable. Also expect to pay around $4-5 per pin which is cheaper than the $6.50 and up in the park.

Have Fun

THis is for a 7 year old?
THen you can't go wrong. Either before hand or when you get to the park, get him a lanyard with some Disney pins he won't like. If you get him pins he does like, he won't want to trade them. Then he just has to go up to any cast member with a lanyard on and ask to trade. The will trade any pin they have for any other Disney pin.
He will love it!

Thanks. I've heard/read about the Sedesma/Spain pin issue, so that is why I figured I would ask on the boards first.

Ok...typically newbie question coming...Cast exclusive page? I'm clueless...

Thanks--

Yeah, that's what I figure...he's gonna love it, for sure. My plan is to get a him a couple of pins that he will love (he's a Buzz fanatic) to keep and the rest should be ones he'll want to part with.

I know that pins cost about $6.50 in the parks...what is reasonable to pay per pin for used pins (like on eBay, etc.)?

There must be some kind of website devoted just to Disney pins, right? Anyone who can post the link, I'd appreciate it. TIA

Thanks a ton! I just knew there was a whole world about pin training out there...just had to find it!

P.S. My son is a Figment fan, too! Figment and Buzz are his favs by far.
