Hi. DH was out yest. with some friends. They mentioned they were going to Disney next month for their 25th wedd. anniversary. They asked DH if he could recommend a nice rest. to go to for their dinner celebration. My DH could only come up with Chef Mickeys :scared1: Luckily he told them he'd check with me and let them know today.

So......I thought of Victoria & Alberts (though I've never been). It def. is on the pricey side so I'd love to give them a few options. Maybe California Grill? Anyway I'd appreciate some advice. I know it's next month and they may not even get into a "nice" restaurant. So could I have some suggestions please? By the way if it matters they'll be staying in the Boardwalk Inn and I do not know if they are on the dining plan or not.

Thanks everyone!

We loved Jiko and it is especially nice if they like wine as they have some really nice, hard to find, South African wines. I have not been to narcoosees but I have heard it is romantic.

I second California Grill but if they want quiet I would tell them to ask to be seated in the wine room.

Keeping in mind restaurants that are close to their hotel...

how about Flying Fish then a nice, romantic stroll around the Boardwalk? I've never been there myself, but I have friends who rave about it. Yachtsman Steakhouse would be another good choice. If they have park hopper passes or are using their park tickets for an Epcot day, how about Bistro de Paris? Or the new Hacienda de San Angel and watch the Illuminations fireworks from the restaurant?

We were there for our 25th this year and have been to the world and most of it's eateries many times. We had our choice narrowed down to Citrico's, but unfortunately--our dinner there never happened. Anyway, after much research we felt it would meet our atmosphere, food and service needs for a special occasion. I think it would work nicely for them, as well, unless they want to jump to the V&A category. FYI, they do print up souvenir menus with the couples names as a little gift for them on such an occasion.

I also wanted to add that we did have a larger celebration with our family of nine (my parents flew in and most of my sons) and we did celebrate with everyone at the much less expensive (and less impressive...) GFC for dinner one night. I mention this as Citricos would utilize the same GF bakery from which we ordered our custom cake. It was really spectacular!!! I do not know how to post pics to this board but if you send me your email address or your friend's email address--I can forward you the pics of our cake--only if you think they would be interested...it would be A LOT of cake for two--but was just right for the nine of us. If they have a fridge, it can make for a fun breakfast for a few days! Let me know through my private messages.

I would always always pick a restaurant not on the dining plan, especially during free dining periods, if anyone wants a quiet meal. Chances are better at one of these.

So if they don't go with V&A, I would pick Bistro de Paris, Shulas, bluezoo or Il Mulino. Food is better and there's a better chance they might get a quiet meal. There is also Wolfgang Puck's The Dining Room at DTD but our experience there was a bit noisy.

I agree.

Shula’s or Blue Zoo would be my choices.

I have not tried Il Mulino, but I like the Italian place it replaced.

Agreed again! Plus those are all at the Swan and Dolphin which is a nice 5-10 min. romantic walk from the Boardwalk.

Chef Mickey's.........:rotfl::rotfl::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Poor guy - sounds like my hubby. I am assuming you do most of the planning when you guys go to Disney? :surfweb:

You got that right!!!!!

A little off topic, but I've never heard of the "wine room" at California Grill. Does this area have a view of Wishes? I will be celebrating my 25th anniversary there during our upcoming trip and am curious about quiet vs. view!

No view.

I would say that Bistro de Paris is very nice and having stayed at the Dolphin- even though we didn't go to the restaraunts they looked very nice.

The Wine Room would be the only way I'd do CG for a "romantic" dinner. Far too noisy and busy otherwise. I would much rather do Jiko for romance (if the higher end places are out of the question).

Thanks everyone. I passed along everyone's ideas. Can't wait to hear what they decide.

Oh tell me more. Did you do this Dinner? What was on the menu? Is that 150 or 170 price for two people? That would be a wonderful way to celebrate my 30th anniversary next year. Thanks

I also meant to say that I didn't know about the Sweetheart Dinner. Learn something new everyday here. I'd also like to hear from anyone that's gone.
