Help! First time to Disney

Hi, we are family of four from Ireland and are visiting Paris at the end of Oct (Halloween week). We haven't been to any Disney parks ever so don't know where to start with regards to getting the best ticket prices, it seems we are going at peak season. We are staying in Paris city and would like to spend two days out in DLP. We have 6 yr old twin girls who are into everything pretty & princesses not adventure rides. Should I pre book now or will it get any cheaper at end of summer to book?
Any help, advice, tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much from a confused newcomer.

hi there fellow Irish person, Im from Dublin and have been to DLP twice and I am a regular visitor to Disneyland California. Check out the link in my signature to my DLP Christmas trip report. I will give you an idea of what the park is like at a peak time.

Yes you are visiting at a peak time but thats not all bad. You are visiting during one of the special holiday seasons, so the park will have a Halloween theme everywhere.

I have only been to DLP as part of a hotel and ticket package and have stayed onsite in one of the Disney hotels.

There is alot more to DLP than just adventure rides. Disney is not like theme parks in England like Alton Towers, there are so much for everyone to see and do and its not just for children either.

I would book sooner rather than later, as prices dont really go down.

i agree, if its 2-day park tickets you are looking for rather than a package, the prices of the tickets are unlikely to come down for the last week of October.

I would advise getting there early! Even though it says the parks open at 10, be there by 9. They'll let you in before 10 and then you queue to get into each land or at the rides in the Studios. Be aware that hotel guests can enter the Disneyland Park before 10 so Fantasy land will already be busy. I would do one morning first in the main park and one in the Studios. Head straight to Fantasy land and get a FastPass for Peter Pan. You put your tickets in the machines at the entrance and it will give you a time to return later. Then explore other rides in that area and have a look around. You could queue to meet the princesses, but the queues will be huge (2 hours). If your budget allows you could pre book lunch in the Cinderella restaurant (Auberge du Cendrillon) and meet the princesses there in a peaceful environment. (Have a look at dlpguide.com for menus and prices)
There will be halloween/harvest calvacades throughout the day and lots of other haloween things to see and the main parade will be at 5.00/5.30 at that time of year.
If you can keep going try to stay and watch Dreams at Park closing. Even if you go out and relax in a restaurant or the Disneyland hotel before it starts it's worth seeing.

You can book hotel and park ticket packages on any of the European sites, not just the Irish site. Different countries can have different offers and prices. Its often worth having different sites open at the same time to compare prices and offers.

i personally don't think theres much point booking a package including hotel and park tickets for just 2 days park time, unless you really want to do that.
The French version of the DLP site (isle de france) has ticket only prices, and you can check the usual suspects too (attractiontix ticketmaster.fr etc).

The first time I went to DLP this is what I did, and I am possibbly planning another trip in March time and again I will be going for 2 days and staying onsite.

Many people go to DLP just for 2 days park time and staying onsite really maximises the time, not only giving you access to EMH but eliminating travel time and worry about transport. I guess if you live near enough to be a regular visitor you see things different from those who can only visit once or not as often.

Thanks for your help. I'm looking at booking 3 day tickets through 365tickets.ie. Does anyone have any experience with this company or would you recommend? If I'm issued with just vouchers, is it easy to get the tickets over there?

hi @DLPfirsttime I haven't used a 3rd party seller so I can't advise you on 365tickets.ie Many people do though and from what I have seen, if you get vouchers, you just bring them to the ticket kiosk and they exchange them for the regular tickets.

Hi, For our 1st trip to DLP (2007) I bought Park tickets from an Irish Company....think they were based in donegal. They sent me the tickets rather than a voucher. Anyway, 365tickets.ie appear to do the same (give them a ring to confirm). Having said that spend an hour or so online looking for the cheapest ticket-only option. There is usually quite a difference in price between Sellers.
