I have finally decided to sell a coownership of a house in Nags Head, NC. With little ones starting school we will be lucky to use 2 or the 5 weeks we have available to us. We actually inherited the property from my great aunt and love having it but feel right now that we could use the money for other things (we would like to build a house). Does anyone know of a good realtor there? It is so hard to randomly look online and pick someone. Help please!

TIA,
Jenn

I can tell you that I just got back, was looking at real estate and everything that's for sale is at least 10%-most 15 to 20% under what it was last year. It's not a good time to sell if you want to get a good price for your investment. I was talking to a developer who happened to be finishing a home just next to ours on the beach. He said real estate is 'scary' right now but if I had some $$$ I should definitely consider buying. He's been building and selling down there for 25 years and he's thinking of bailing. The 6 bdrm/6+ bathroom oceanfront(no dune) home beside us was for sale for 1.2 million. This guy told me that's basically what it cost to build it 3 years ago so no profit. He also said the same house would have sold for 2.5-2.75 two years ago. Can you hold out?

Joe Lamb, Jr. has a great reputation in that area. I haven't worked with him personally.

You could also check the NC real estate association's website to see if your realtor has had any complaints filed against them.

I can wait to sell but would really like to now because we pay a monthly fee to the management company and quite a few costly repairs to the house are going to be happening in the next year. I just feel like we will be putting more into it than we will get from using it. Fortunately we didn't pay for it at all initially so whatever we sell it for will be profit.

Lori- Thanks for the info!

Call a real estate agent where you are. Maybe you know someone? They will be able to find you an agent in NC, and work it all out that way. All major brokerages have worldwide networks of agents.
Good luck!!

You're in Pittsburgh! WOOT PENGUINS!
Prudential Preferred is probably the biggest network.
Then Northwood.
Coldwell Banker would be third, and Howard Hanna would be 4th.
I'm sure Remax or Keller would be able to help, also.
I worked for Prundential, and I can tell you the course we had to take along with the test to do referreals, etc was TOUGH! You have to really know your stuff!
Good luck again!!
