Has anyone found a source for plastic globes online? Our Lowes and Home Depot had a large acrylic. Both have cracked as DH tried to make holes.
Also, the only smaller size they had were 1/glass 2/a bit too large

We are in count down mode and trying to get this all figured out. I have been unable to find any online..

Thanks!

Hi! We got our original globes from a local light supply place 2 years ago. We have since moved and wanted to make another. I found the large globe(though not the same size or material as the original) at Home Depot and they also had the small plastic ones. You may need to look at another Home Depot.
My DH also broke the globe from Home Depot. He used a rotozip to cut the replacement globe and it worked great.

Good luck!

Thanks!

However, the two acrylic that we had, cracked when DH was attempting to
put holes in them. guess there is no such thing as an unbreakable plastic one?

I gave him the link... thanks!

DH used the plastic ones from Home Depot. He also used a rotozip to cut the holes. I think he said he started the hole with an eighth inch drill bit and then used the rotozip to finish.

Thanks!

I made a mickey head today from the plastic 12 and 6inchers we got from Home Depot. They have about 5 of them in the Jensen Beach store in Florida, so have them ship them where you need them. I used a Dremel tool with a screw attachment and actually melted the plastic as I was cutting it today. It made a little bit of a mess, but cut very nicely, with no breaks. I used white silicone to put it together. I hope this helps.

I got mine at the local Lowe's. I used a regular hole saw for the first big hole and then finished with a dremel tool.

The acrylic seems to be very thin and require some patience.Mine cracked when I started my first hole but, luckily it stayed wiithin my marked area, after that I changed tools. If you have a soldering gun, you can buy a tip for it that is flat on the end and use it to melt through the acrylic, when your done throw the tip away or save it for the next one.I don't think I wouldn't use it on plastic though. Tips aren't that expensive but just like the other options take your time, melting still takes a little time just don't force it.
