Didn’t expect them to come through, but able to get tickets to taping of America’s Got Talent show on Wednesday, August 28 (i’m Sure the locals are chuckling, saying big deal:) but my GD is so excited, no such thing in Pittsburgh)

So, now to get there from the Great Wolf via Uber on time. Line up indicated as from 1:15 pm - 2:00 pm.

Would ordering an Uber around noon be sufficient or am I looking at more like 11:30 am, if not earlier?

This is so hard to predict, I would bet it would take 90 min with normal traffic. If there was a bad accident it would be longer. If you don’t mind being there closer to 2 then I would leave by noon.

Google is showing about 2 hours 15 mins right now in afternoon traffic. I would estimate 3 hours to be safe, 2.5 hours if you want to cut it close. You never know what is going to happen traffic-wise, and you can always explore the Hollywood/Vine complex.

Thanks, i did look up ‘time’ but only got the then current at 6:15 pm EST = 1.38 hours.

Need to remind myself to check it starting at 10 am EST tomorrow to see what pops up I guess.

Was really hoping :wizard: that was skewed as to rush hour & that it would be less in the am during what I assume is non-rush hour time.

Hate to burn an entire park day on this. Sounds awful but already doing a brief tour of LA,direct from LAX on our arrival, the day before around noon.

Tour dropping us & luggage off at the good burger location on Santa Monica blvd, where they said they’d hold our luggage until we eat & head down to Great Wolf. At least we should beat evening rush hour traffic, maybe lol

4:00 pm should be way worse than 12:00 pm. On a Wednesday mid-day I don't think it would come close to 2 hours, but you never know.

We've driven up there on a few different days from South OC (even further than GG) and this is what we've found:
Sunday at 7am - 1 hour
Friday at 1pm - 2 hours
Monday at 10am - 90 min

There are things to do in the area - so you can always leave earlier and have lunch up there if you are nervous about the traffic.

I know its last minute but can you rearrange your plans a bit? Move the tour to the morning of the day you're going to AGT or consider staying in the Hollywood area the first night? Right now it sounds like you're going to be spending a good part of your first two days sitting in LA traffic...

I got my family tickets to Tuesdays show! We have to be there to pick up our tickets between 11:15 - 12. We'll plan to leave early (we know we're going to get stuck in traffic, it's a given) and after we get the tickets we'll make it a tour around Hollywood day before going back at 3 to line up to get into the show. We're from NJ, so like your GD my niece is super excited, the rest of us just a little excited. We're more concerned with the dress code. LOL! Good luck getting there, and have a great time!

Go to Google Maps online...enter destination and direction from staring point...there is then a drop down menu where you can select date and time to see typical traffic conditions and get a travel time estimate.

Small world indeed lol! I’d have prefered tuesday’s Show vs the results one on wednesday but since it’s our travel day wouldn’t work

Pretty specific as to dress code, especially since i’m Seeing people on the tv show dressed in all sorts of things that are on their not what to wear list.

The three of us had to run out to find dresses in neuteral colors lol. All i have is variations of black & prints. Still rummaging for a pair of flat, closed toe shoes.

How did your show go? We had a BLAST! Since we have 7 people I had gotten vouchers for 4 and 3. My nieces (16 and 12) and I got the 3 seats together, we were in the 4th row sitting next to Simon's family! It was surreal! LOL They actually made an offer to everyone in the audience to come back the following morning to attend a taping of an act and if we did that they would guarantee good seats for that evenings show. There was no way we were coming back the next day, the traffic getting into LA was horrible and I just couldn't imagine having to get there even earlier than we had on Tuesday to exchange our vouchers.

And speaking of clothes, we all work "appropriate" outfits when we went to get the vouchers except my niece who was in shorts and a tank. My sister asked if they said anything about needing to change for the show because the girl in front of her was told she couldn't wear what she had on that night. LOL They didn't say anything to us about her clothes, but she changed anyway before we went in for the show. They did tell my other niece that she couldn't bring in her camera, which we were already aware of and had planned to store it in the car so all was good there.

It took us 2-1/2 to get from hollywood to great wolf leaving at 7:00 pm. We just missed them shutting down the highway for police action, phew.

We had been offered tix to see the taping of the ‘cirque’ featured guest spot in the am that would guarantee us seats later for the taping...no standing in line. Apparently, they were having issues rounding up bodies for the Wednesday show.

Uber driver and hotel staff all said it would be best to allow for 4 hours transport time the next day if we wanted to be there on time. Um, we voted and skipped it. Did see the line waiting to get in for ‘your’ show and were surprised to see some of the outfits that were waaaay out of the stated guidelines.

Did find it amusing that our drive to airport for late flight from great wolf didn’t take more than 45 min. It’s obviously hit or miss there as to traffic flow.

We kept cringing every time we'd look at waze and see that we were say 30 miles from our destination but it showed an arrival time of 2 hours. Loved the sunshine, hated the traffic.

After the Tuesday taping we went to Chinatown. My oldest niece wanted to get pictures where one of her bands had filmed a music video. We couldn't believe how dead it was there at night, nothing like NYC's Chinatown! After getting her pictures we found one restaurant that was open still and ordered Chinese food to go, we ate it when we got back to the hotel, it was a nice change from the fried food we were eating so much of.

It's probably harder to get people to come to an early morning taping, between people having work and school, or if on vacation I'm sure most people don't want to get up at the crack of dawn to travel there. We didn't even take a vote, just pretended like Chuck didn't tell us anything and went on our merry way. LOL!
