My facebook and yahoo accounts were also hacked. I changed my passwords which solved the problem on facebook but not on my yahoo account. I just let my friends and family know that no, I am not suddenly selling viagra as a side business and to please ignore it.
Wow, this happened to my sister too, a few days ago. I opened the attachments thinking she had sent me jokes or a link to wimp.com but it was the Viagra thing also. I think she has to do more than change her password though. Luckily, I don't think it affected my computer, seems to be okay, keeping fingers crossed.
Whenever you are prompted to enter your password (if you have it set up so you don't need to enter it every time you sign on) make sure you change the password.
We have found there is a bot virus that looks exactly like and acts like the sign in page, and when you enter the password, the bot gets it and exploits your account.
Rotate your passwords frequently. And although it shouldn't need to be said, never ever ever tell anyone your password. Not your bestest friend because today they are your friend, but tomorrow???
I got that bot virus too. Changed passwords multiple times. Even contacted yahoo about it. I ended up having to close my account. Every incoming message got the Viagra-like drug link on an auto-reply.
I googled it and lots of people are having same issue. Only reliable recommendation was to shut down the account. I tired to avoid since it is a total PIA to change, but I think that's what you'll need to do.
