while we are at WDW next time and I want to do something special. Bummed he will be too young for the Petty "drive along" experience.
I posted this elsewhere and got 1 repsonse so I am keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks
Sharon

How about parasailing, a fishing trip or surfing lesson at typhoon lagoon (early rising needed for that one). As a mom of 3 ds 16,14 and 12 I would say definetely forgo the horsebackriding, its a bore as the ds said. They did parasailing in aug. Has he ever driven his own water mouse boat? Maybe a fireworks cruise etc.

OMG, my DS will be turning 14 during our trip down in August, and I've been thinking the same thing...what to do, what to do. I plan to have the concierge staff make sure there's something special in our room when we get there, but what else? I bet the watermice would be a fun idea, you know how boys that age are, if I take him to a character dinner, he'd hide under the table. Good luck with ideas and have a great trip!!princess:

My son will turn 14 the day after we come home. Dad and he are doing the Kennedy Space Astronaut Experience together. Minimum age is 14 so it could almost be a right of passage :)
We're leaving on Thurs and returning 1/9 so if you want I'll let you know what they think of this.

If your son is turning 14 when you get home, so how can he do the Space thingy if the minimum age is 14?

So glad to hear that others are in the same boat! The Kennedy Space Experience sounds very memorable. My DS and DH are big golfers so I may explore that avenue.
What is the age on the water mice? Anyone know?
Thanks for the ideas!
Sharon

Water mouse age requirement is 12 AND a height requirment that I can not remember but was pretty tall. As I remember it was right around my 11 year olds height and he is quite tall. He will have to wait for next year!!! Younger kids can ride with an adult but more than one person weighs the boat too much to go very fast. A good option for a very young child but not a tween age boy.

Schmeck, I called when we were looking at the schedule and asked. They will be going on the Astronaut Experience on 1/8 and ds will be 14 on 1/10. They said that would be fine. I'm guessing their main thing is that it's not for little ones although they do have a few scheduled Family Days that are geared for 10 and up.
They are really looking forward to operating the full motion simulator. My dh is a pilot and collects Flight Manuals and actually has a Flight Manual for the shuttle. They will meet and have q/a time with astronauts and do a simulated mission into space. They're geeks but I love them :)
