Hi, I've been looking online and can't find an answer. I went through AAA and the lady has been kind of less than helpful. Just yesterday I had the sudden thought 'does my park hopper include Downtown Disney or do I have to buy a separate pass?!" Yikes. Please help, I'm a newbie!
Thanks a bunch! :daisy:

DTD is free....if you mean Pleasure Island with the night clubs....I think you have to pay for that but I know nothing about PI....DTD Marketplace with all the stores is free.

DTD is free and PI can be included on your MYW tickets if it has the Plus feature. Admission to PI is extra for tickets that are just hoppers.

ah good thank you. Slight panic attack at the thought of oh no more money to spend! I'm going with my roomies and last nite we were looking at the food thread drooling and figuring out where we wanted to eat. Then that thought hit me about DTD. THank you for the info.

Pleasure Island does have a seperate admission. I believe it is included if you got the 'plus pass' (or whatever it is called, with the water parks, and more on it).

But as stated above: The marketplace area with all the stores is free.

Unless things have changed in the past few months, admission to PI is free, however if you want to enter the clubs, you have to buy admission.

This may still be true because we have walked through PI once just to check it out. This was during early afternoon though, so maybe they charge an admission fee after a certain time like when all the clubs are open. :confused3

When I was there in 2002 PI charged only after a certain hour (8pm?) to get in. During the day it was free, but I don't think any of the clubs were open.

Originally you could walk through PI free during the day and at about 7 PM admission was charged to enter PI from either end.

Just a year or two ago it was changed so you could walk through PI anytime but you paid admission to enter the clubs. You need either Water Park Fun (plusses) on your regular park ticket, or separate PI admission tickets.

Since most of the time you can get five more consecutive nights of PI for five more dollars with a separate PI ticket, the water park fun is generally cost effective only if you use it for at least one of the other plus venues in addition to PI.

PI has always been open during the day. There are several shops on the island that are open all day and can be fun to browse.

In the old days, the entire island was closed off after 7pm when the clubs opened, and you could only get onto it if you had a PI admission pass.

About 2 years ago, a new policy called "Pleasure Island Ungated" was put into place, meaning that anyone can get onto the island after 7pm, but you still need the pass to get into the clubs. Once you get a pass, you get a wristband that shows that you have the pass.

Pleasure Island passes can be bought at the PI gate. If you have a MYW pass with the Water Parks and More option, you can use a Plus feature to get a PI pass.

The rest of Downtown Disney is simply a Disney-themed shopping plaza. There is no admission and no charge to park (unless you valet). DTD has lots of stores, restaurants, and eateries, and the AMC Pleasure Island movie cineplex (24 screens, just like your local shopping mall movie theater), and the Cirque de Soliel: La Nouba show (which is a ticketed show that you cannon use any form of park pass to get into).

To get a better perspective on DTD and it's three sections (the Marketplace, Pleasure Island, and the West Side), click the link in my signature to get to my maps page and have a look over the DTD map.
