We are taking our son on his first trip to Disney Memorial Day weekend. We are staying at the Disney Music Resort and I ahve been reading on the site all day and have not seen any posts about this hotel. Have I made a mistake in booking this hotel? My DS LOVES the music from all of the Disney movies so I thought this would be cool. Wrong? Someone with some experience please let me know. Also, anyone with any insight on how to get the most out of the four days there would be appreciated.

Thanks!

We've stayed there twice. Never had a problem there. We're staying at Pop Century this year to try it out. If your son's into music then he probably will like this resort with all the huge musical instuments around. We really enjoyed it at night. We took lots of pictures.

I haven't stayed in the Music one - but I have stayed in the sports and the movies, which are all pretty much the same. I really enjoyed it
You're staying on Disney property - so you are guaranteed to have a great time!
Don't stress and enjoy yourself!

HAVE FUN!

I noticed you had buzzlightyear in your name, so i wanted to
ask why not the movies with the buzz lightyear section??

welcome to the DIS...glad you found us...you will find many people here that will be willing to answer any and all of your questions!!!!

my wife and i stayed in the jazz building at all star music during our trip without the kids...we have also stayed at both movies and sports at one time or the other...we generally stay at one of the all star resorts on our arrival day since we usually show up a little later in the day and are basically looking for a place to sleep....

the all star resorts are value resorts that offer the basics...don't expect to have access to boat or bike rentals a nice sit down restrauant or transportation alternatives (like the monorail or boat) but do expect a well maintained clean room with a great environment...you can't go wrong with any of the resorts on property (in my opinion)...

the only suggestion that i would make is to request a room in one of the buildings near the main building with the checkin and the food court...after a long day at the parks, it can be a real hike from the bus stop to the buildings in the back of the resort...

as someone else said, you might want to post a similar question over on the resort board (or maybe the moderator will move this thread over)....

have fun!!!!

We stayed at Music one. We were in the Broadway section which was done like Times Square/Broadway, right down to a taxi.

The theme style seemed to be more about different types of music, Broadway, Country, Jazz etc than about Disney music.

To me this was the more sedate of the value's themes. If your son is younger I think he would enjoy the movie one better - giant buzz lightyer. BUT if you stay at music, you only have to walk next door. We did, took some photos.........

PS We spent very little time at the hotel. The values just don't give us much to do, so we were in the parks where you will hear ALL kinds of DISNEY MOVIE MUSIC !

Here is the Resort Board, post your question on there too! :)
Resort Board

You can't go wrong when staying onsite at WDW IMO!! You'll have a GREAT time. Make sure to visit the All Star Movies Resort where they have "Andy's Room" with a huge Toy Story set up-WAY COOL!!!:sunny:

When we first started going we stayed offsite. The last 7or 8 times we have gone we have stayed onsite. In my family's opinion it is so much better to be onsite. Although we have not stayed at Music we have stayed at Sports numerous times. As others have stated it is similar and you should be fine. You do not get all the benefits as some of the high price hotels but we have never missed them as you still get the feeling of being at Disney 24 hours a day staying at one of the value resorts. As was mentioned earlier visit Movies and Sports as it is interesting to see how they are set up.

You might find references to the resort more easily if you search for AllStar Music or ASMu. Both are pretty common names used on these boards to refer to the hotel you'll be staying at.

You'll find lots of references to it on the Disney Resorts Board .

I stayed at ASMu on my trip and I really enjoyed it. I was in one of the jazz buildings also. I liked being there because I didn't have that long of a walk to and from the main building. I thought the food court had plenty of choices.

I haven't stayed there, but I think the theme is music in general, not really Disney movie music. I only have the photos I've seen to base this on though. Have you looked at pictures? If not you can see some:

Hope that helps a little.

U can get more for your money and still be close to wdw!

on 192 there are some hotels and on hotel plaza blvd.

GO TO www.expedia.com and click on lake buena vista area or near an attraction, type in walt disneyworld

also, you can probably get a free bkfst at your other hotel.

we decided to stay offsite and will save 2000 dollars!!

also check w/ AAA if u have them, they're great, u can get a book w/ star ratings, too! ::yes:: ::MinnieMo

We haven't stayed at Music, but have stayed at Sports and love it. I do think you will too. On the Resorts board, it seemed more people liked either Movies or Music over Sports, but I think it was more the Theme than the resort itself.

Do check out the posts on the Resort board, it should ease your mind about whether or not you booked the right resort.

PS we are going to be at Sports Memorial Day Weekend too. Make sure you get your Lime Green Mickey Heads from Home Depot and be wearing them or something Lime Green so that people will know you are a Dis'er.

::yes:: ::yes::

All Star Muisc is great hotel. The hotel was clean, excellent food court and good transpostion.

Onsite provides a service for silly people like me not to get lost trying to found there hotel room. Because there is 15 Hoilday Inns on one street. :p

We thought about the Movies but my son Really liked the musice from Toy Story, so I thought that the ASMu was Disney themed music. Maybe I should move us to the Movies. I think he would love to see "Andy's room" up close. My son is the original Buzz Lightyear fanatic. In fact, we had to have stiches in his chin last year because he tried to "fly" while watching Toy Story.

Wnated to thank everyone for their responses. I am feeling much better about the resort, even if we don't move hotels.

Thanks to the lady with the Home Depot tip. Is that only in FL or can I get them before I leave GA?

All Home Depots have them, as long as they haven't all been taken by other DISers, lol... ::yes::

OK. So how do you guys get the trip countdowns on your pages? I think that the countdown is more exciting to me than my DS, but I would like to do it anyway.

On my last trip I stayed at the ASMu. I think we (DH and I) stayed in Jazz and my parents stayed in Calypso. They wanted to be closer to the food court and bus area so they paid for preferred. Personally, I didn't see a big difference.

Having no kids (yet) the only downfall I saw was all the kids running around making noise and waking me up in the morning. However, since you have a son, I'm sure he'll wake you up in the morning just fine.:earsboy:

The ASMu was rated best of the value resorts in a recent poll. Personally I like it better than the sports, but I haven't been to the other two.

You mentioned about only having four days. If you are planning on resort hopping, I'd recommend hopping between monorail parks (epcot/mK). On our last trip we spent a lot of time hopping and I feel like we spent half our trip on the busses.

Hey Buzzmom,

I was going to ask the same question about the countdown things too. I'm worse than the kids about counting the days till WDW TIME!

Have a great trip.

We stayed at ASSports 3 years ago. It was great! All we did was sleep there, but it was clean, neat and totally Disney.
