We have a TPV room at the CR booked in March for 3 kids and 2 adults. I am lost where to stay and need help. This is our first trip and we are not frequent disney travelers :) I imagine our next trip will be years from now. We will be spending most of our time at MK and HS with trips to Universal. That doesn't help narrow down where to stay. I'm not as excited about CR because of the lack of theming. However, I would prefer not to stay somewhere with a lot of construction-again, just to maximize the experience and because of our inexperience is selecting rooms, etc. I am so amazed but the information on this board but its overwhelming! I've thought about the Poly but thought I had read about construction planned? The GF has construction though how good is Disney at staying on schedule? The BC looks great and so does Boardwalk. I really want to stay somewhere with the wow factor. Any help would be welcome including what type of room to stay in, views, etc. We do love to swim as well and would really love a great pool. Thank you in advance for the help!

For the wow factor for me it would be poly. But we normally stay at boardwalk since that is our favorite location. Leaving thurs for 9 days at boardwalk :cool1:

To me, there is no better wow factor than the MK views from the CR. Also, the monorail goes through the hotel. That is another wow to my family. And the walkway to the MK can't be beat. I do 't think you could pick a better hotel for your first trip especially if you plan on spending a lot of time at the MK. The pool isn't as themed as some of the other resorts but it is still nice and has a water slide. Unless you plan to spend most of your time at Epcot I wouldn't choose the BW or BC. The rooms are smaller and you certainly will not have the view you will from the CR. BC had the best pool on property but it's crowded and can close early. I think the Epcot area resorts have the worst bus transportation on property and since there is another thread going on about this, obviously others agree with me. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised with the theming of the CR and really enjoy your stay there. It is the top of our favorite places to stay. For deluxes, BC and BW are the bottom of the list.

As much as I love the Epcot resorts, I would definitely stay at a monorail resort since this will be your first trip! Nothing like a monorail resort for that "wow" factor. You will also likely want to spend most of your time at the MK.

I would also suggest the Polynesian. Beautiful grounds and a nice pool right on the beach facing Cinderella Castle. I imagine that the worst of the construction at the GF will be over by March, so would not totally rule that out either if you prefer its theming to that of the Poly.

The CR MK view/location is great, but its theme and grounds just cannot compete with those of the GF and Poly, IMO. Plus, the CR pool is just sort of blah.

I would also vote for the Polynesian. I love the view from the Contemporary, and the rooms are so big, but the theming is more impressive at the Polynesian.

I might seriously consider Boardwalk, also, if you do anticipate a significant amount of time at the studios, because the boats and the ability to walk to and from make it so accessible.

Honestly, though, you can't go wrong with any of the deluxe resorts. They are all rather impressive! :goodvibes

Another vote for the Poly! My favorite resort and 2nd favorite pool. My favorite pool is SAB at BC/YC. How old are the kids? CR and Poly will give you the biggest rooms so with 5 in a room you probably want the space. If one of the kids is 2 or under you might consider the Wilderness Lodge. Another fave of mine and you have the boat to MK without the price of a monorail resort. Your kids will have a great trip regardless of where you stay since you will be in Disneyworld!! Pick somewhere the adults would like and where you feel you'll be happiest. Are you set on a deluxe? The suites at AoA look really fun and give the adults some privacy with their own room. Plus you get a kitchenette for at least breakfast and 2 bathrooms which are very handy. I know with a family of 5 it's nice to have a place you can cool off or separate if you need to at times.

We switched to the Poly, thank you for your suggestions! There is no club level available so for now I booked a garden view room but I would love suggestions on buildings, etc. and if upgrading to a different view is worth it. Thank you for all of your help!

Congratulations! I think you made a great decision. :goodvibes

For the record, the garden views at the Poly are, IMO, the best on property! It is not at all unlikely that you may have a partial view of the lagoon or at least one of the pools/the marina. For that reason, we have never considered it necessary to upgrade to a lagoon view. I will say, though, that if you are planning on spending a lot of time on your balcony during your trip (due to napping kids, etc), then the castle view is truly magical. Definitely not a necessity, though, to have a good view!

You can find all of the information you will possibly need in order to make a longhouse request choice on Tikiman's Polynesian website. He has a lot of longhouse-specific room view pictures there too: http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/

Personally, I would opt for either a volcano pool view at Samoa, marina view at Fiji, or Tokelau.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes
