on her bedroom wall...

First, I have to say that I am artistically challenged... I like to scrapbook but the pages are very simple, etc... I'm too logical in my thinking... ;) Anyway, DD wants a wall with flowers like the end of its a small world... only instead of good bye she wants her NAME in different languages... That's where I need the help of my DIS'er friends... We have her name in English ( :teeth: ) , Thai and Farsi... Does anyone know other languages? Or a website where I could find something like this?
Thanks!!

no idea but good luck! you will have to post pics when you are done! sounds like it will be a fun room :)

sorry can't help with the name but they have a really cute small world tapestry on sale at disneydirect

Here's a website where you can put in a name, choose a language and then hit SEARCH.
http://www.behindthename.com/translate.php
The site will give you the equivelent or a word derived from that name in whatever language you choose.

There is a picture of the exit signs here on the Travel Channel. If you click on it, it gets bigger.
And here's a good picture with simplified children from SM:

Sue!! That is perfect!!! I knew my Dis friends would come through!! Emily is so excited!!!

I don't know if this would work for names, but there is a website called www.freetranslation.com

You could try it. By the way, I think it's a fantastic idea and don't forget to post pics when you're done! Good luck!

Thanks Pooh's Pixie!! That site is awesome!!!

In our spare bedroom, we wanted an "international" feel because we had had foreign exchange students from a number of countries. We found a poster that had a picture of the earth from space and the words "Fragile: Handle with Care" on various langiages around it. I painted the walls a fairly deep blue and painted a border of light blue to write the words in.

To get the letters right, I actually printed them out on the computer in the size and typeface I needed. I tranferred the letters to the wall and then painted them. There are a couple of ways to transfer - i can't remeber how I did it; it might have been artist transfer paper or carbon paper.
For more complex things (like the shapes for the flowers or the kids) you can enlarge them in sections on the computer and then use the printouts for your pattern. If you cut them out like a jigsaw puzzle, you can trace around the different pieces onto the wall.
Another thing that works well is Wikki Sticks. They are wax coated strings and are slightly tacky so they stick together. You can stick them to your wall to plan out the design. When you are satified with an area, trace the design with a pencil and move your Wikki Sticks to form the next part of the design. My older DD used that method to draw trees to paint on her sister's bedroom walls.

Thanks for the advice... I am very concerned about how to transfer it from PC screen to wall... your directions sounds like something I just might be able to handle... :teeth:

If you can get ahold of an overhead projector and some overhead projection transparencies for printing, you can project whatever you want onto whatever part of the wall you want. You should be able to rent an overhead projector.

I can't believe I re-found this thread. To the OP, did you do it? ANy pics? I am thinking of doing it for my DD!

I was just looking at the "Wallies" (wallies.com) website for bumblebee stuff.

They have flowers that you wet and stick on the walls. Maybe you could write her name in the lfowers with a permanent marker then stick them to the walls. According to the website, Wallies stick and remove very easily with water.
