My DD is 20 months old and for the last week or so, has been getting up in the middle of the night calling for mama or dada. She also is getting more teeth, which could be part of it, but doesn't seem sick or anything. Also, I work from home sometimes, and my mom watches her. Usually when grandmas around, I'd get booted, but today she would not leave me and cried for me, which is why I'm thinking the waking up is part of separation anxiety too. Has anyone gone thru this? I've tried to let her cry but she does not stop...after an hour and a half, I can't do that anymore. On the other hand, I don't want her to have to sleep in our bed. Any advice on how to get her to sleep?

Could you lay with her in her bed until she falls asleep? Or sit by her and rub her back?
My DD is almost 22 months and she will sleep half of the night in her bed and when she wakes up she is close to hysterical when she can't find me. This just started also, she was fine in her bed before. I just bring her in with us because it is the only way we are going to get any sleep. And I personally believe that she is only young once and it is just a phase she is going through. I tried everything else and she would just cling to me. She won't sleep with us forever! ;) :D

We've actually been bringing her in bed with us once she wakes up too. Its amazing how with a king size bed, both my husband and I get kicked (literally) out of bed from DD though. :D She's fine once she's with us also, and doesn't need anything. Hopefully it'll pass soon. Thanks.

You WILL get you old dd back when those teeth come in!! Mine enver seemed sick, but boy did she get the cling-ons while those guys were growing. Eventually, it passed, and she had two new choppers to show for it. (Left bite marks on me, I think.)

You might try some motrin at bedtime to see if it helps her sleep through.

"this too shall pass, this too shall pass...."
