Hello.
I´m from Germany and I need a room for 1 night before driving to Cocoa Beach. We want to go shopping at the Florida Mall on the day of our arrival. So far I´m holding a reservation for the Best Western Airport Inn (stayed there before) and the Days Inn,which is 20,-$ cheaper and closer to the Mall.
Has anybody stayed there and could help me with experiences.Tripadvisor has only 1 Comment and that is positive,so any more input would be appreciared.
Thanks and greetings from Germany

Hi, I won't be much help really since I've never stayed at either one of these hotels. We are planning on going to the Florida Mall too for one day and reading up on it, I believe they have a hotel at the mall. Have you checked into this? I have no clue how much money it would cost, but it might be worth it to be right there at the mall. By the way, I am from Austria. Wie geht's?

Alles Gute,
abacobaby

Thank you for your answer. The Florida Mall Hotel looks good, bur is almost double price without breakfast.Best Western and Days Inn are with breakfast.
Anybody else knows something.
And-mir gehts gut,danke schön.
Greetings

conny264,

If you want to be close to the Florida Mall, stay at the hotel AT the mall. The surrounding area of the Florida Mall is less than desirable to put it mildly.

Also, my personal opinion, I prefer the Mall at Millenia, about 15-20 minute drive from the Florida Mall. It is newer, cleaner, has a great food court and excellent restaurants! Some of the stores are more upscale and more $$$$, but it also has Macy's and Bloomingdale department stores!

If you stay at the hotel at the Florida Mall, it is attached to the mall, so it is very convenient. It is an older hotel, but for convenience you can't beat it!

Happy planning!

The area surrounding the Florida Mall leaves a lot to be desired. Many of the budget motels house transients and are not someplace I'd feel safe staying.

I don't even like driving in that area after dark if I can help it. In fact the local radio station morning guys were just joking about that area being where then hookers hang out.

I'd shop there, and stay someplace else. Actually, the advice of shopping at Millenia is what I truly suggest.

Since I don't know much about the Orlando area, I'm quite surprised at the responses about the Florida Mall area. Is it really that bad? Is it still safe to go to the mall there? Just curious....

The Mall itself is perfectly safe. The area surrounding the mall is not. Imagine the casino's in Atlantic City. You're in the casino, you're 100% safe. You leave and walk two blocks and...

Thanks for the answers.
The Millenia Mall is not an option.I need to go to special shops for business reasons amd they are only at the Florida Mall.We have a car,so walking around after dark is not going to happen.
Any body actually stayed there and could share some info?

The area surrounding the Florida Mall is not as bad as some of you make it our to be. I have lived approximately 4 miles south of the mall since 1987. The area north of the mall is an area to be concerned about because that is where the topless joints are. The area surrounding the Mall consists of a lot of car dealerships, furniture stores, restaurants, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Old Time Pottery...etc. While the best hotels may not be right outside the mall it is only a few miles from hotels along Sand Lake Road and International Drive. In addition the JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton are also approximately 4-5 miles away.

You can use Priceline to get a hotel in the airport zone for around $50. Not sure how overseas people use US Priceline but there seems to be a way to do it.

The airport zone is a short drive from the mall and the hotels are clean and reasonable. There isn't a lot to do at night but you said you'll have a car.

I'm not referring to 4-5 miles away. I'm referring to the area within maybe a mile or so of the mall.

If Conny has a car, her best bet is to book a room someplace a bit away from the mall. There are plenty of nice hotels a five to ten minute drive away.

Thanks everybody for the answers.I tried to look into priceline, doesn´t seem to work from Germany. So far I´m keeping my reservation and keep my fingers croosed for a special at the Flrorida Mall Hotel. We have a car but don´t want to do to much driving after a 24 hour day with Jetlag.I´ll guess I just have to lean back, relax and keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks again.

Conny, check out the reviews at tripadvisor.com If I am remembering correctly, the hotels nearest to the Florida Mall are really crummy- smell like mildew and mold, shabby, not well-kept, etc. I'd really recommend some place in the International Drive area or Sand Lake Road. It isn't very far; maybe a 10 minute drive on the highway from I-Drive to the Mall, and Sand Lake Rd is even closer. Last year we arrived too early for our hotel reservations and so went to the FL Mall (it's huge, the stores are great!). I was very surprised at how close it was to I-Drive.

Most of the discussion has centered around the area. You may also want to look specifically at the Days Inn. The chain has a poor reputation in the Orlando area.

I would do a LOT of research on this hotel, and of the Days Inn hotels in the Orlando area. I think you'll find the bad reviews far outnumber the good.

I did check tripadvisor and compared to the other days inn it has 1 comment on the Florida Mall days inn and that is very positiv. But I´m still keeping my fingers crossed on a good deal for the Florida Mall Hotel.
Thanks for all the answers

Days Inn FL Mall - stayed there in 1998 and for some stupid reason AGAIN in 1999. Unless there has been some very serious overhauling done, I wouldn't even park in that lot. We did not feel safe going out of the room even for ice at night. It was loud and very run down. We only paid $25/night and I still don't feel like we got our money's worth. Since you have a car, you don't have to be so close. Try some other review sites for comparison. 1 opinion just isn't enough.
