Hi there:
My dad broke his hip on April 3rd. The date is clear in my head because it was my birthday!!:) He is getting around on crutches. We are scheduled to visit the World mid July. I am worried that he may not be fully recovered and able to manage all of the walking. He needed 3 pins to set the hip and is due to have it x-rayed again in 2 weeks to check the progress. Just trying to prepare in case I need to get him a wheelchair. Where do I rent one?? hotel?? Park?? How do they charge- per day/per week??
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

If you check out the disABILITIES FAQs thread, you will find the answers to all the wheelchair rental questions.
The resorts do have a limited number of wheelchairs for loaning out, but there is no guarantee that they will have one when you request one.

I do think he will need something for your trip. Even if he is off crutches at that point, there is a lot of walking involved in a WDW trip and he is not likely to have the stamina to do all that walking. A wheelchair is less expensive, but an ECV would give a lot more independence.
If he is still using crutches, he should bring them because they will provide a little more support for getting on and off attractions. You can request crutch holders for wheelchairs or ECVs.
