Help - Cash vs. Renting

We are thinking of taking all of our family to the Beach Club for a weeks stay but are short 13 points. We will have barrowed all of 2004 points and now are looking for the best way to stay “that extra day”. Does anyone have advice on paying cash vs. going thru the “hassle” of find points to rent? Any estimate on the cost of 13 points?

Look on the rent/trade board for those points. They usually are $10 per point, for a total of $130. If you are unsuccessful finding your points there, send me a PM at this site, and I may be able to rent you some of mine. If you are going fairly soon, you will sometimes find points going for a cheaper price, but you must act quickly. Usually, though, the price is $10 per pt.

Thanks Cruelladeville, We have reservations for November although on of the families may have to slide the week by one day resulting in an increase of 13 points. I should know by mid to late July and will keep you in mind if the points are needed.

I would say definetly rent. We were paying cash for one night at OKW since we were waitlisted. $445 +tax vs. 22 points, the rental of points is a no brainer to me cost wise, even with the deals out there, I don't think you'll do as well and you risk having to move room.

You may want to take one or both of your weekend nights and pay cash direct through MS or CRO and save your points. I did this last month, I paid $321 per night incl tax for a Friday & Saturday at OKW 1 bedroom vs 48 points per night. That was with the 25% member discount. So in effect $6.69 per point. When you go through member services, you don't have to put down a deposit, just guarantee a credit card, cancellation is 5 days prior. The 25% can be difficult to get though, it is subject to availability. It's easier to get less than 60 days out, my reservation was right before 60 days.

If you are short points instead of renting woudl you do a transfer? Pay soemoen for their points and have them transfer them into your account or no? Has anyone doen this through the boards?
