It's our first trip with our 5 year old. I have been twice as a kid and my hubby (a former FL resident) has gone a LOT. Anyway, we go to south FL 1-2 times per year to see in-laws. We decided this trip to go to Disney for a long weekend! How do I fit it all in? WE arrive Friday early evening and have a PS for Chef Mickey's - am hoping to ride the monorail and maybe catch the fireworks from the Contemporary (any advice on viewing?) We then have ALL day Saturday, all day Sunday. We have a PS for the Pirates Cruise for my son on MOnday (9:30 - 11:30) and then we have into the early eve on Monday before we head back. We would like to fit in only 2 parks - MK and MGM. We had originally planned on just MK but my son is a Toy Story FREAK (yes we are staying at ASMo) so when we heard MGM had Pizza Planet and Al's Toy Barn we decided to try to fit that in as well. My question is this.....should we stick to MK on Sat and Sun and just try to do as much as MGM on Monday after the cruise? Or, should we use the EMH for MGM on Saturday, EMH for MK on Sunday and then fill in Monday with MK?

Thanks for your opinions!

What time of the year are you going?

I would go to MGM on Sat. and MK on Sun.

Watching the fireworks from the CR is great. There is a balcony at the end of the fourth floor (Chef Mickey's is on the fourth also), or if you want to avoid crowds just walk up a couple of floors on the stairs outside. They used to let you go to the 15th floor to view fireworks, but our last trip it was reserved for guests dining at the California Grill on one deck and private groups on the other.

hello, fellow Chicagoan!!

I would try MGM on the EE morning (Saturday). If you finish up early, Great!, then head over to the MK. Spend all day Sunday at the MK. After the Pirate Cruise on Monday, I would head back to the MK. The proximity from the GF to the MK make this an attractive option from a transportation standpoint. This would give you 2 full days total at the MK and by going to MGM first and doing everything that you want, you don't have to worry about running out of time at MGM on your last day.

Hopefully you are going during a time when the weekend crowds are not too bad.

Good Luck!!

Normally I like to avoid the MK on weekends ... having said that, let me share a recent experience.

The Sunday of Memorial Day weekend we - three adults & a six year old girl - just happened to be up early enough to go to the MK's early opening. We arrived at the MK about 8 a.m. We had the 6yo make a list ahead of time of what attractions she wanted to see/do at the MK. She has been to WDW many times. We started in Adventureland & moved clockwise. We got so much done before we ended up near Cosmic Ray's for lunch about 1:30 p.m. - Swiss Family Robinson, Alladin, Pirates, Big Thunder Mountain, (Splash was down), Small World, Peter Pan, Snow White, Tea Cups, Minnie's House, & Goofy's Barnstormer.

If your son wants to see/do Toy Story at the Studios, then I would try to be sure to get to that park :).

HAVE FUN!

We are going Nov 21-24 - that is the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving. Do we need a full-day for MGM? IS there that much to do there for a 5 year old.....guess I thought it was geared towaard an older child. ALso, if we head to MK after the prates cruise on MOnday, will we face lots of crowds? THANKS!
