I have reservations for CSR for January at the FL resident rate, for a king room. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary - no kids! I originally tried to book POFQ but there were no king rooms available. I just checked online and it's giving me the king room option at POFQ. We've stayed at CSR twice and LOVE it and are going back in Sept. I'd kind of like to try something new, especially for our anniversary.

Someone tell me what to do! My husband said, "whatever makes you happy." But I don't know!!

HELP!

OK, I just read in my handy PassPorter that after the buses pick up at FQ, they go to POR and stop at 4 bus-stops there? How long does that take?

Well I'm a WDW newbie, and we're at CSR.. I just posted my 2nd day thoughts here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1657840
Being a new comer I really dont have much to base it on of course, but I dont see how the service can be much better.

I just realized something, the busses from PO must be in other spots then they are for MGM or AK. I dont ever remember seeing a bus that had anything about Port Orleans on it, do they share with anyone else??

Our Family had stayed at CSR for our 1st onsite trip 2006 and it was nice.
This Years trip 2007 we stayed at POR and absolutly Loved it!
We even Visited POFQ while we were there and thought it was
Wonderful also.
If you like movies about the old South with Plaintain Homes and Beautiful
Grounds you will love POR. It was very Romantic with Horse Drawn Carriage Rides.
Very relaxing atmosphere with lots of cute little Bunnies, Ducks and turtles.
We also loved the Boatride to DTD, it was really Nice.
We did not find the Busses to be any problems.
The thought the food at the Rivermill CS was really good.
My DH thought I had moved us up to a Deluxe Resort and could not
believe it whenever I told him that it was a MOD just like CSR was.
DH really Loved it!! We all Did!! We will be staying at POFQ next Year and
will be making visits to POR. It's nice to try New Things.

I stayed at CSR last October and thought it was a lovely resort with great facilities and brilliant bus service. However....this summer I stayed at POFQ and LOVED it!!!! The theming is so much nicer, its much more compact, it has charm oozing out of every corner, CSR seemed cold in comparison. The pool is not as large but its still a lovely pool, the river running along the back with boat service to DTD is such a lovely evening spent, had great service at the resort with small lines, and while SOME of the buses share with POR we didn't find this to be too much of a holdup. Remember that POFQ gets picked up before POR so you will always have a spot on the bus! The room decor seemed nicer too.
i would have been happy to return to CSR but I won't if POFQ is available.:thumbsup2

Both are nice but CSR is my favorite!! Didn't like the shared buses at POFQ.

We stayed at POFQ in September and will be returning there for our next trip. The size of the resort can't be beat. No matter what building you're in, you are close to everything. If you plan on dining or enjoying the clubs at DTD the boat is the only way to go.

The bus does stop at POR after you board at POFQ but it rarely stops at all 4 POR stops. The driver seems to make the choice as to how many they stop at, based on how full the bus is. For our 8 days at POFQ I think we actually made the full circuit of POR once and even when we did it only added about 15 minutes, if that.

If you're looking to try something new that I would definitely recommend POFQ. I would probably try CSR if I was going to try something new, but with taking 3 kids by myself next time I would like to know exactly where everything is to make is simple, and POFQ is wonderful!

POFQ is compact and very romantic with the lush grounds and jazz music piped in. It's a very charming resort and I've loved it the two times I've stayed there. You'll enjoy it! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the input, everyone! I'm still wavering. The pools do not affect our decision at all - we live in Florida so pools are everywhere and it's too cold to swim in January for me. Brrrr. Also, we won't be going to PI and probably not even to shop at DTD so the boat service is not an issue either.

Pro-CSR: Know it, love it. Great bus service. Beautiful grounds. We like Pepper Market and would like to try the new Rix Cafe. Quiet. Adult-feeling resort.

Pro-FQ: Different, something new to explore. Good theming and nice grounds. Romantic feel.

Sigh. Maybe I'll flip a coin. ;)

Thanks again!

OK, I did it. I changed. The chocolate chip pancakes and beignets at POFQ won me over. If we are less than happy with the bus service, we can drive to the parks so I am not making that my deciding factor.

I'll be looking forward to our next stay at CSR in Aug/Sept, though! :)

I think you'll be really happy with POFQ! We stayed there in August, and were really drawn to it by how small the resort is. No matter where your room is, the food court, front desk, and general store are not far off. It has great theming, and I definately think you'll get that same adult feel. The buses were not a big issue, as POFQ is first to be picked up, and dropped off. and alot of the times you either stop only once at Riverside and alot of the times you don't stop at all!
Plus, there is only one bus stop at POFQ, so you don't waste a lot of time running around your own resort picking people up and dropping them off!

I really think you'll be happy with your choice. DH and I stayed at POFQ in Aug for our 10th anniversary trip. We LOVED it! It has such a wonderful, cozy, romantic feel to the resort. When we returned from a crazy day at the park, it was always very relaxing as soon as we were on the POFQ grounds. The busses were not that bad, either. We always had a seat, and the ride to the parks were not too long. We really loved staying there, and will most likely return there on our next trip.:joker: Have fun for me!!
