Hi Everyone,

I am not an entire Universal newbie, I did take my kids there 4.5 years ago and we LOVED it. This time is a bit different though, and we're now a family of 6. We'd prefer to stay on site, probably Portofino Bay, so we can get the express passes. We're spoiled by the FP and FP+ systems at Disneyworld, and our vacation dates will be summer, so i do NOT want to be stuck in a line.

I was wondering if it's worth it to get a power pass for one person for the discounts, if we will be going either at the end of May or mid July? I am just concerned about blackout dates for parks and hotels, and I couldn't find much info on blackout dates for the hotels. Or would it be cheaper to do the military discount? (i'm not sure what that is, anyone know?)

Also, I tried to find the APH rate when I was looking at the hotels, but it didn't seem to want to apply it. For my end of May time frame, I was getting around $246-$250 per night at PBH without the discount. Is this right?

Last question...am I correct in understanding that it is cheaper for us to book separately than to book a package? We can get the unlimited tickets from Shades of Green for just $188 with our military discount. We are driving, so it wont be a problem for us to go there to get them.

Thanks for the help :)

APH rates aren't out yet for then. You'll have to price it all out separately to see what works. Sometimes it is cheaper and sometimes it isn't. If you search Power Pass on the universalorlando.com site, the blackout dates will come up.
