HI FOLKS,

I AM FLYING OUT ON MONDAY MORNING AND I NEED SOME ADVICE. I WAS THINKING ABOUT TAKING DRAMAMINE FOR THE FLIGHT (AND THE ROLLER COASTERS) THEN I READ SOMEWHERE THAT A LOT OF DISSERS LIKE BONINE. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? DOES ONE WORK BETTER THEN THE OTHER? WILL I BE SLEEPY?

THANKS TO ALL!!!!!

Me and DD's all get motion sick...some worse than others. We all use BONINE and like it better than dramamine because:

1. It doesn't make you drowsy at all
2. It comes in chewable tablets (great for kids)
3. our doctor recommended it over dramamine.
4. one dose lasts all day

enjoy your trip!

Bonine for me !!!

Because.... a.) it works...and b.) Dramamine doesn't!!

Have a WONDERFUL trip!! :)

Do you get it at a drug store, or is it a prescription. How about the sea band bracelet??

It is not prescription........any walgreens, walmart, riteaid etc should carry it.

I never tried the bracelets i guess it couldn't hurt. :scratchin

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!

I JUST WENT TO WALMART LAST NIGHT AND BOUGHT AN 8 PACK OF BONINE CHEWABLE TABLETS RASPBERRY FLAVOR.

SPACE MOUNTAIN HERE I COME!!!!!!!

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Hey, thanks from me too. I'd never heard of Bonine before I read this so I bought some at Walmart today. I tried Dramamine before but threw it out because it made me really tired and I got grumpy. I can't wait to see if this stuff makes a difference.

I believe meclizine is the generic active ingredient in Bonine. You can get meclizine very cheap at Target. My wife swears by it, and it does not make her drowsy like Dramamine. Also try ginger capsules if your stomach gets queasy from motion sickness.

Bonine is not approved for use by children under age 12, while Dramamine is OK for kids.

Dramamine does come in chewable formulas, orange and grape last time I noticed, in both child and adult formulas. You can also get liquid Dramamine for children. (Most pharmacies don't stock liquid Dramamine, but it is over-the-counter. You can usually get it easily if you call your pharmacist 24 hrs before you need it; they can get it from their district warehouse.)

For grownups who don't need chewables, generic Meclizine is available at most pharmacies, much cheaper than brand-name Bonine.

I always use Dramamine Less Drowsy formula. It is also a one a day (24 hours) and does not make me all sleepy/dopey like regualr dramamine. Whatever works for you is so much better than being green ( I leave that to Kermie)

So if Bonine isn't approved for kids, should I stick with Dramamine? My kids won't get on the plane unless they can have the "pills that won't let me get sick." I suppose I should just give them Dramamine anyway. It'd be easier if they just slept. I'll be picking up some Bonine for me -- not only for the plane but also for Star Tours!
