Help - Austin TX rehearsal dinner

I'm planning this from VA ... I need a reasonable place for a rehearsal dinner in or near Austin ... Salt Lick is already booked so out of the running. Probably 40 people.

Totally forgotten how to PM ...

We need 5/27/11 - memorial day weekend for 40-50, BBQ or Italian, beer/wine
$30-40 per person max. There will be some small kids. Church is the Greek Orthodox in the hills and reception is at The Terrace (on 5/28) so trying to keep downtown and west ....

Does this make any sense.

I tried contacting Stubbs, but I think they may have closed ...

Ooooh for Italian downtown I highly recommend Carmelo's. I have been to both a rehearsal dinner and a wedding reception there. They do an excellent job. There is a great party room that would accommodate your group. And the best part is, since they have been downtown forever they actually have their own parking lot. No walking or valeting.

Still open, but they're really a live music venue for some pretty big acts. I'm not sure what their availability would be.

Try having it at Driftwood Estate Winery and Salt Lick can cater. Beautiful view.

Carmelos may be too formal for us ... I'm trying to keep this laid back ...

Also, I should have mentioned that I am social-phobic so the thought of having to coordinate multiple vendors for site, food, etc., from out of town may be too much for my nerves ...

A friend of mine just had a big birthday bash at Chez Zee. Delicious food, great party rooms, very quaint, removed from the bustle of downtown.
