Hi...

I am looking for some input/advice as to if it makes good sense for me to purchase an annual pass. I appreciate the help!!

DETAILS

Trip planned May 18-21. My friend has used her AP already to make room reservations. If I purchase an AP now I would only be using it for park admissions.

Sept 28.-Oct.3 Booked POR to take advantage of the free dining. This is an iffy trip as to if we can swing it. My husband likes the dining plan. I understand that an AP holder has to purchase base tickets and then upgrade to be able to get the dining plan.

Dec.1-10 The BIG trip....I have a pkg booked, Poly garden view concierge.

Questions:

Are there ever any AP rates offered on a concierge level rooms? during the 1st part of december?

If I am unable to get an AP rate for Dec., is it still worth it to purchase an AP?

Thanks for the help!

I would think that the answers depend on how many days you'll be going to the parks. It sounds to me like you have about 19 days coming up at WDW. For the September trip, you're going to need to spend at least $60 to get a base ticket. So now calculate how many other park days you'll need, and add the cost of an AP to $60 and see if it's cheaper or about the same. If it's about the same, seems like a good option -- you break at least even and maybe you can use it for your December trip. Plus, you have that one day ticket from the September trip to use later.

The one unknown is that we don't know what other discounts will be floating out there for your December trip. What if they announce free park hopping and pluses, like last year? Now all of the sudden, maybe it stops making sense for your particular circumstances.

I was in WDW late Nov. early Dec. Had POR for 7 nights and Poly GV for 4 nights. I saved $600 using AP discounts. I remember concierge having AP discount availablilty because I was considering it. So, if you are staying at the Poly for 9 nights you would save more than $600 if the discount comes out and you can get it.

I can only add that in the past, there have been concierge options when AP discounts were offered. Not sure about the time of year however, and they are always limited. If available, they would "likely" be worth 75+ dollars, since you would be staying in a "high" end room. But, could you get a room where you want to be, etc would be the issue.

Thanks for the input! It's so frustrating...I was speaking to a CM who told me they never offer an AP rate for concierge level...and never in Dec? I always thought the 1st week of December was slow...it's so confusing.

I have had APs or SPs since 2001. I don't ever remember calling to check on rates when there wasn't concierge available somewhere. I mustly just *check* mind you. I've only broken down and booked concierge once - but it was with an AP discount. ;)

You said you had a "package" booked for the December trip. Were you going to cancel that if/when AP rates come out and switch to AP rates?

I think so, that is, if I can figure it all out! :teeth:
