Help an American DISer with advice on a family trip to Australia:LINK to PTR Post 67!

Oh - I hope you have felt that I was having a go at you! I am sorry if it came across that way.
I just saw it as an opportunity to tell my strange story. And your 20kms is nothing like my chap's 200kms!!

no, no, no, no offense taken at all... i'm glad you picked up on the discrepancy!!!

we're all good!

... having said that... people in brisbane do say things like it's a few kms down/up the coast referring to places like noosa or the gold coast, when it's in reality close to 1.5 hrs away... :)

Totally agree :lmao: I live on the Gold Coast and I feel Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast are my home too :rotfl2: Maybe because, living in this reigon we travel back and forward a lot. I have many friends who live on the Gold Coast and work in Brisbane, friends who drive to the Sunshine Coast for business, we go to Brisbane shopping without a second thought. I have driven to the Sunshine Coast for lunch before, many day trips to the Sunshine Coast, drive to Brisbane to see Dr's, to the airport. It really does feel like it's just up the road :rotfl: :thumbsup2

I think its normal for people when travelling to say they come from the closest major city -

I live in the far suburbs of Sydney, and when travelling would always say I was "from Sydney" even though it takes probably an hour to drive to the city.:)

Wow...thanks for all the additional replies. I guess if I continue to get positive feedback, I'll put the TR (and the PTR) right here.

I have a feeling that no matter where your TR is, if we know where it is...we'll be following it!
