I am booked on the Wonder, Deck 6, Aft, verandah stateroom partial obstruction (with a metal railing). Just read a very recent bad review about these rooms, that everything rattled noisily, room smelled bad, bad location, etc.

Has anyone here stayed in this location on the Wonder, and what can you tell me. I'm wondering if I should try to switch staterooms. I've already received the luggage tags, we are sailing soon.

I recently sailed on the wonder for a merrytime cruise, and I had deck 2 aft stateroom. This was my second disney cruise, the first being fantasy (the inaugural year), so I can compare to other ships.

First, this is an older ship, (inaugural being 1999, i believe) so the rooms have been used MANY MANY times. However, I believe that they are well maintained for the amount of people that are using these rooms. This will also cause a few squeaks and rattles, but I think the person reviewing was being overly sensitive. If you are worried and a very light sleeper, then take some earplugs.

I have nothing but WONDERful (hehe) things to say about my experience. I would say do your research on your room location. I can't personally speak to deck 6. I was hesitant about deck 2, but I feel I had a better view than I did on the fantasy and it was a higher (more costly) stateroom.

You will not be in your room looking out your window enough to be concerned with an obstruction, unless you are going for the views from the ship. There will always be bad reviews, but there are thousands of others with great ones!

just reread your post and see you have a verandah... but still. Some people post reviews of specific rooms, so do your research and think about how much time you want to be spending in your stateroom. :thumbsup2

The rooms were just redone last spring on the Wonder, and they are in great shape. I do have to say I prefer the Wonder to the Dream but that is my only comparison. Every room I have been in on the Wonder creaks a bit but I barely notice it, it actually reminds me that I am on a moving ship and I enjoy it.
If you were going to Alaska I would worry about an obstruction as it is so spectacular I wouldn't want anything in my way, but on a carribean cruise it doesn't bother me.

We have been on the Wonder 5 times, most of the time on Deck 6 aft (not verandah) and while there are some creaking noises (you are on a moving ship), we have always been comfortable. We were last on in October and it was good - no complaints.

You're on a moving ship and the main propulsion is situated aft. No way around it you will hear and/or feel some vibrations from that. Specifically when docking. As stated: bring earplugs if you are a very light sleeper. The rooms will also rock as you are on open waters.
If a room smells bad: mention it to your stateroom host and see if he/she can fix it. If not, then go to guest services to address the issue. They are the only people who can fix it. No complaining on a message board after your trip will fix the smell in your room.
Wonder staterooms have been refurbished in the first months of 2015, before she relocated to Alaska. However the suites and some concierge rooms will be done during her upcoming dry dock this fall.
Don't worry: if you take the things as they are, call for DCL-help if needed and decide that this will be a great trip, then this will be a great trip.

we had a veranda on deck 7 port side midship (but very close to aft), and other than some metallic creaking sounds the first few nights (not enough to keep me awake) there was not much noise. the room was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. no smell. location was great because it was between the elevators (hence not as much traffic), close to the laundry room, and easy access to the kids' clubs and MDRs. climb a few flights of stairs and you're at the pool and snacks.

Hi, we cruised last year in room 6634 on the Wonder. It was a great room. Did not have any smells or noises. We loved it, great balcony and great room. You can search for more stateroom reports on the DIS also to see others opinions. HTH

I have stayed in a couple of rooms after reading reviews about noise, worried, and then all was fine. I was just in an aft room, deck 5, in May on the Wonder, and loved it. I think it depends on sensitivity to noise. I like the ship sounds.
