We have never been to Universal. My 14 yr old DS is "bored"with Disney. We will be staying at Disney for Spring Break using our DVC points. We were thinking about coming in a day early (April 12) and staying one night on site at Universal and hitting IOA for the day. For that time period, I get approx. $860 for a family of four on the Universal website.

Is this what I can expect to pay?? Or is there a way I can possible get a a lower estimate?

Just trying to find the best value. THANKS!!

Susan

Doing anything for just one day is expensive. You won't get much of a room or ticket discount and you are going at a peak time.

I see $374/night at the Royal Pacific plus tax. Then you have to purchase your tickets on top of that. However you will get unlimited express pass access which will help a lot at this time. You could possibly get a AAA discount for the room but you'd have to call the hotel to see if that is available.

Call the Loews number. There are sometimes obstructed view rooms and things that are less pricey that aren't shown on the website.

Check undercovertourist.com for tickets and use the mousesavers link for a bit more of a discount. People have also purchased tickets here http://store.usssa.com/Products/122-universal-orlando-park-tickets.aspx

2nd what damo said..One day at ANY themepark destination ( Disney included) during peak time is going to cost$$$ .AAA discount if you have it may be your best bet

Thanks damo !!!

Do you have to be a special member of some organization to buy tickets from that site?? Or can you just check out and receive the tickets with no problem?? It looks like maybe a site for sports teams.

I think we might use our DVC accommodations and just purchase tickets. If we do that, we will pay Approx. $381 for tickets and $239 for express pass. So $607. Would save us $250 staying at a place we have already paid for. BUT - buying from that site would save us an additional $81.

Just want to make the best informed economical decision.

Will AAA help us with ticket prices?? I think we will stay at our DVC reservation and just purchase tickets.

Just checked the AAA site and they charge tax ans a processing fee so that make it MORE expensive. $400 for the day instead of the $381 I am getting from UT.

You don't have to be a member for the usssa site. Do a search on this forum and you'll find other people who have used them successfully. You have to watch the expiration dates, since that seems to be the reason for the low prices.

Thanks damo!! I did do some extra research and the expiration date is within our range, so we might go with them .... thanks so much for the tip!!
