So, we are taking a multigenerational trip to WDW over Easter week this year. My family of four from NJ, my sister's family of four from CO, and our parents from WA. We (the DVC members) have reserved a GV and have everyone on one reservation. Now comes the hard part.

What the heck is the least painful way to deal with park tickets? (This is clearly one of the cons of the FP+ system. Boo hiss.)

I'll start by saying that my extended family members would prefer not to create their own MDE accounts if possible. Which is fine with us - if we can purchase tix for everyone in our party with one transaction, it's not a problem. But how do we deal with the fact that we'll all have different kinds of tix?

For example, my family of four will likely get park hoppers for 7 days. My sister's family will likely get one-park-per-day tix for 7 days, and our parents will likely get one-park-per-day for 4 days. When purchasing the tix, is there a way to identify who gets which tix? It seems like this method would be rife with the possibility for glitches. Not to mention what happens when it comes time to get FPs. Ugh. But that's another thread.

Along those lines, would we be able to purchase the $199 DVC tix for our parents if we aren't purchasing them for ourselves?

I know everyone's MBs will come to us. And I'm the one who will be up at midnight at the 60 day mark trying to get some of those coveted FPs. Can I feasibly also handle the park ticket purchase for all of us?

Anyone have any experiences, insight, or suggestions here? TIA!

I put everyone on my MDE and then just linked their tickets through that.
We had hoppers and annual pass people. Varying lengths on the hoppers
Then I just booked all the FP+ for everyone
It worked well.
There were 7 of us.

The $199 ticket deal is over. The tickets needed to be purchased by Dec. 31. You could have bought them for your parents.

You might want to check ticket prices at authorized ticket sellers like UT, it may save you some money. You can add the tickets to your MDE account by scanning them with your smart phone.

Sign up for the Mousesavers.com newsletter (free), i believe it comes out the 15th of the month. In the newsletter will be a link for Undercover tourist that will give you even better prices for then if you went through UT on your own. The prices include tax and all and they ship very fast. :)

When my sister's family (2 adults and 2 five year old twins), traveled with us, I put everyone in my MDE. My sister bought UT tickets for her family and had them shipped to me. (Incidentally, they called me to make sure everything was correct since the billing address of her credit card didn't match the shipping address. I thought that was good).

I use the ticket number on the back of each ticket to link it to the appropriate person. We had APs, they had PH passes. Worked just fine. I also made all of the FP+ reservations and the ADRs. A lot of work, but all worked just fine.

So I think you can do it all from your MDE account - and actually, it will be easier than if you had to deal with multiple MDE accounts. All you will need is the actual ticket number (or will call number if they buy from Disney) to link the tickets to your account to do FP+ selections. The MBs will ship to you.

ITA with Carol regarding using only one MDE account and booking all FP+ and ADRs. I have done it both ways and it is SO much easier to do FP+ once from one account than trying to get the times to match between 2 accounts. In a couple of months we will have family arriving at WDW a day after we do. I am going to wait to make our FP+ reservations until the booking window opens for them so I can make all FP+ at once from my account. Just be sure that if others have an account you have invited each other on MDE to plan together.

I agree with the above we just got back there were 7 of us - 5 with AP, 1 with 7 day park hopper, 1 with 5 day MYW (he was only staying 5 days). I linked the tickets to my MDE and booked all fast passes. Once we got to Disney my older DD and her boyfriend would log onto my MDE and change their fast passes for a few days since it was his 1st time at Disney and he decided he really didnt like the roller coasters. We kept the hard to get FP's like TSM and Gold Mine train in place but did make many changes as we went along and we went over NYE! Good luck

Thanks, everyone!

Sounds like it should be easier than I thought - I will just purchase everyone's tickets and then do whatever I have to do to assign them to the correct person. I'm praying Disney has made this easy for me. :thumbsup2

Now, to get everyone to make a decision on which exact tickets they want to purchase . . .

....(snip).......Now, to get everyone to make a decision on which exact tickets they want to purchase . . .

IMO, that will be harder than making the FP+ selections, LOL.

The good news is that once they give you the money to buy their tickets, it will be much, much harder to back out on you. :teeth: (Don't front them the money unless you plan to gift them the tickets. There have been lots of reports of family backing out at the last minute. In general from reading the boards, it seems like family is worse than friends in that respect).

P.S. Feel free to ignore the unsolicited advice. :teeth:

I just did this for a trip in December for 10 people. It encompassed
7 day non-hopping - 6 tickets
8 day non-hopping - 1 ticket
DVD Annual Pass - 1 ticket
DVC Premium Annual Pass - 2 tickets

I purchased the regular tickets from UT and of course had our DVC APs.

I input everyone as "friends" on my MDE account and linked all of the tickets. I was then in charge of all FP+ booking. Since I wanted 7DMT, I was online at midnight at the 60 day mark and was able to get that. I then went back at a more convenient time and got the rest of our FP+ with no problems. 7DMT was the only "problem child" and at first I could only get 7:30 p.m. Luckily, they opened more slots as we got closer and I was able to rebook for an earlier time. I think the only problem FP+ are 7DMT and A&E meet and greet.

This was Christmas week too.
