Trying to steer DH away from WDW free dining for our anniversary. Am I finding the best rate for an on-site resort for 5/30-6/1 (2 nights)? I have AAA, APH, and Loew's Gold. The best I have come up with is $199 at PBR (total $447). This is an APH rate. I tried extending to three nights for SS rate but the rate actually goes up. May 7th, DH and I will be married 20 years! (OMG!!!!) I was telling him that WDW has free dining again this summer/fall and he wants me to book Labor Day weekend for our anniversary. We are spending a long weekend at Universal over July 4th and taking my parents to WDW Thanksgiving week to our DVC. I also just got back from a trip to Florida so I never thought about heading there for our anniversary. When DH told me to book WDW, I immediately thought if we have the funds to spend, I would rather go to USF!!! I am trying to quickly pull the details together so I can sell it to him. This would be much closer to our actual anniversary. I found airfare for only $140 pp which I know I'll be paying more Labor Day weekend. The price will be about the same for 2 vs 3 nights at WDW without free dining but I can argue that Loews are deluxe resorts vs value at Pop Century. We won't get free dining but can't we ask to upgrade to Club at PBR for $35/night upon check-in?. Besides, we have annual passes at USF and no longer have WDW APs so we would have to buy tickets. Any other logical arguments for DH??
Thanks for listening and any help is appreciated!

Portofino is a beautiful anniversary resort. It will definitely be memorable.

Thanks, Damo!
We stayed there one time the first year it opened in club level and I thoughtit was a very romantic resort. I'm still putting my case together for DH. I forgot that I have to call for AAA rates (no AAA discounts came uo when I tried on Universal's website) so I will do that this morning to see if I can get a lower price to help make my case to DH!!!

No, you can't add club for $35.00 per night. The $35.00 per night for Loews Gold is for a suite, if available. But the suites don't include club.

We added club at the beginning of March for $75.00 per night.

$199.00 per night for PBH is pretty good. You might want to check the date and rate thread and see if anybody has been quoted anything lower. Also, keep checking on a daily basis and see if the rate varies.

Also, check the extended rate quote page. You might not be paying that every night.

For instance, we are going over Thanksgiving this year. The Super Saver rate that popped up on line showed $258.00 per night. However, when I clicked on rate details, I was really only paying the $258 for the last two nights right after Thanksgiving - the busiest time. The majority of my days were at $227 in the slower days before Thanksgiving. The rate that pops up online is sometimes the highest you are paying during your stay. Occasionally, if you are straddling a slow and busy time, there will be rate changes during your stay. You can only see these if you click on 'rate details.'

Thanks for the info. I have my prices all mixed up. $75 for a Club upgrade is still a very good deal and I'm sure we will request it. I will keep checking the rates but in the meantime.............................. I BOOKED PBR!!!!!!! DH loved my suggestion and it didn't take much arm twisting at all! We stayed at PBR the first year it opened with kids and we always talked about coming back for a grown up trip only as it is such a romantic resort. We had club level on that trip and realy enjoyed it. The room, airfare and rental car is booked. Now I can research all about PBR.

Thanks again!

It is nice to stay somewhere a little more special for an anniversary. Make sure you plan on listening to Le Bella Notte -- music of the night.
