Ok I am not a Helicopter parent I let my kids fight their battles and dont have any guilt sending them to school, sports, or letting them go to age appropriate things.
I am a helicopter child though.
My dad died 14 years ago and I have called my mom pretty much every day since. Even when we were in different countries, it was rare that we would go more than a couple of days without talking.
I worry about her, she isnt in the best of health and she doesnt have anyone but my cousins there. I would feel much better if one of my brothers was near by but they arent. She will be moving here next Spring, God willing, and then I wont worry so much I think.
She comes to visit frequently and we go to see her several times a year. She is 8 hours away by car.
So does all of this make me a "helicopter child" ?

What the heck, I love talking to my Dad, he's the greatest person I've ever known. He had a quad bypass 14 months ago but it doing fine now. Every minute I spend/talk with him is a gift!
Its nice to know Im not alone at least
