Height restrictions

Do they actually require an inch of height more to account for shoes? We are 4 months out and barefoot DS is measuring 38 3/4s. He will probably grow between now and then and might just be 40 inches. I, obviously, don't want to push the issues as I know the restrictions are there for a reason. I just was wondering if the new racers in Radiator Springs might be feasible if it is a 40 inch height restriction.

He will have to be the proper height in whatever shoes he will be wearing in the parks, and they can't appear to give him too much extra height. At some rides you have to "pass inspection" multiple times and if they can slide a piece of paper between the top of his head and the measuring bar, he can't ride :(

It is with shoes, so I would recommend a pair with sturdy soles (actually, that's what I recommend for Disney regardless of the topic!). Also teach him to take a deep breath and stand up straight when he's being measured if it is close. Oh, and you're up to half an inch taller in the morning, so ride in the morning. Finally, don't ever tell him he'll be tall enough. Tell him you'll check and hopefully he'll be tall enough to ride. If he's that close, he'll likely be checked at least twice in the line. So, prepare him for that even once you've passed the first measurement.

I agree with this. We have had the pass first 2 and then not the last one experince, which I thought was kinda weird! But it was for safety(like OP said!), and we went on our way out.

Its hard on the kids that really want to ride, lets fill them with protien and hope for the best! Maybe the extra bit will help them (I dont know if it does any good but it sounded good!!LOL)

In our experience, they definitely take in account shoes. Our daughter was almost 48 inches last trip and really wanted to go on California Screamin'. When I say almost, she was probably only a 1/4 inch or less away, without shoes. That day she had on Nike tennis shoes with a generous sole. We told her she probably was still too short but would get a measurement just to be sure. When we measured at the first CM, she was not even close! She was a little bummed, but nothing a little cotton candy couldn't take care of! :goodvibes

Other rides we have had measurements on in the past seemed to vary, sometimes even from CM to CM. One ride the first measurement was any easy "yeah plenty tall enough" and then the next measurement further down the line was "hmm yes she can, but just barely". LOL
