height requirements

how strict are they with height requirements? my 3 year old is a huge flume fan & is just under 40 inches. my husband wants to take him on splash mtn.
there are a couple of other rides as well with the same requirement.
i know for qirls it's easier, platform shoes & a high bun or ponytail.
any help for little boys????

First, remember that height restrictions are there for a reason. If a child is under a certain size, they may not be safe in that ride.
That being said, in the past we have seen them be very strict with the measures and have read of many times they measured a child shorter than the parent knew their child to be. However, this trip we saw several times that a CM let a child ride when they were just under what the offical stick measured them to be. We saw this happen on Test track, SM, and BTM, and maybe a few others I don't remember. I have no clue why this was going on this trip but I would not count on it happening. I would prepare my child that chances are he will not be able to ride so there will not be a huge heartbreak when he gets to the top and they turn him away. BTW, there are often several different places that they measure and getting past one, does not mean that the next CM will approve him to ride.

A couple years back my son went on Kali River Rapids ride at AK, he just made the cut off for that ride. He went on it a couple times in a row, and was completely soaked. He went back a little later to ride again and a new cm wasn't going to let him ride, my husband said "Look at him, he's drenched, obviously he was already on the ride."

So as Jordan's mom said, you never know, one cm might be completely different than another.
