Just got back from 11 days at WDW and I saw kids skating on Heely Roller Shoes EVERYWHERE...
At the resorts, in the lobby, near the bus queues and sidewalks to the rooms.

In all the parks, all the time.

No accidents to report, but I'd say they are growing in number.
(Of course we were there during "Pop Warner" time, too.)

I'd guess they were on every 200th-300th kid or so, which would be about one-third to one-half of one percent, but that's still a huge number when there are so MANY kids.

I agree we saw many over Thanksgiving. However, I did hear one CM tell a child to stop skating and to put the wheels away. I whispered "nice job" to the CM as I passed by letting him know I appreciated him asking the child to stop.

The heely thing was big a couple years ago here. It got so bad they have permanently banned them from schools, shopping centres, recreation centres etc!

Yesterday afternoon at the MK my son pointed out to us, 2 adult men with heelies, so I guess it's not just the kids, lol. I agree saw lots of kids with heelies.

I saw two "adult" men with them on Saturday- they were "wheeling" down the exit ramp from Test Track.

I have observed soooo many as well in the past weeks. If Disney discourages them, nothing is being said, since they "wheel" right past CMs without a word!

(Hey lovethatink - we were in VMK yesterday - it was about 11:30 - there were other DIS VMKers in line, but I didn't see anyone that had kids that looked to be the ages that I remembered yours to be!)

Im 19 and I want heelies where do you get them? I think it would be pretty cool! :cool1:

Heelys are actually not allowed to be used in the parks, but most CMs haven't been enforcing it.

He said he saw them at Epcot Saturday, but we didn't believe him, lol

(makeinorland, Was there with them for bit, then headed over to Columbia Harbour House. Sorry we missed each other. We were at Epcot on Saturday too.)

We saw tons of kids wearing them the week after Thanksgiving.

"Santa" ordered some for our son online. Just type Heelys in a search engine like Google and several website options will come up...

Well he was telling the truth! We were there a good bit of the day - Tara would have spent the whole time in Innoventions doing the robot race and Toontown Tag (I was even playing that when they didn't have 4 kids.) We got our YOAMD lanyards while playing the robot race!

Yes - they did say they were going to Columbia House. They were all into their VMK conversations, and I wasn't finding a good time to break in while we were standing in line to turn in quests!

Excuse me, pardon me. Tried to post a response earlier, but I'm still trying to find the brakes on these things! :rotfl2:

Maybe I should ask Santa myself....

That is so funny cause that is what my 6yr dd is asking for on her xmas list. The 1st time I saw them was in WDW. They look really cool but my dh and I don't think she is old enough for some right now. I went on a website yesterday where they were demonstrating how they work and how to stop them. You have to have really good balance.

Hi AB.

A question here.......why would CM's not attempt to enforce any rule, this one included, with smoking another good example of general, oftentimes ignored enforcement?

And sure missed seeing you this year, hope to cross paths next year.

Im 21 and I want some. I havent seen any in a size 13 though.

Saw a kid at AK on Sunday wheel though a puddle. His feet went out from under him and he hit the ground hard. Bloody elbows and I'm sure he got a bump on his head. If he was on roller blades or skateboard I'll bet he would have had a helmet and pads on. To many times I've seen kids get hurt or hurt others in their Heelys.

Dan, from what I've observed recently, the CMs pick their battles. With such huge crowds, they handle what they believe to be the really bad offenses and let the others go. Of course, some CMs are better at enforcing the rules than others. To their defense, they are really busy and short-staffed. I'd prefer to see the rules enforced all the time, but I don't think that will ever happen. :guilty:

Heeleys have just suddenly appeared everywhere in the UK with loads of kids wearing them (mine included early christmas present from rich auntie!) I actually was thinking only yesterday that there is no way I would let my DD's wear them to Disney (we're not going till August!) as I think they would be too dangerous on rides etc. Also it can't be good for their ankles (lifting their toes up) to wear them all day like they would at the parks.

I saw a bunch of kids with them on but they didn't bother me at all. Most of the time there were just wheeling along beside their families.
