Heater for tent camping?

We are heading down the 2nd week of February and I am a little concerned about cold nights. We were there the same week in 2012 and it was freezing, luckily we were in the cabins for that trip, but we will be in tents for this one. I plan on paying close attention to the weather in the week leading up to the trip but would like to be somewhat prepared.

Anyone have any recommendations on a safe heater to put in a tent? Its doesn't need to be super large or really fancy.

Thanks!

I just take the cheap one from our bathroom. It has an automatic turn-off if the heater becomes unleveled and several settings and comes on automatically at a certain temperature. As long as you get one with those specs and can set it on a non-combustible area away from the sidewalls and bedding, you should be ok. I put mine on a metal tray with a silicone pad under it.

we've used a ceramic heater often when camping on a regular site.
I purchased a honeywell surround, it sites stable on the ten floor.
I like that it shuts off if it would fall over. heats 360 degrees.
I cut a piece of plywood so the heated has a stable surface.

I also purchase outdoor extension cord with multiply plugs.

hope this helps Steve

I know you are in a tent but please listen to the warning below. If you don't have electricity and use a gas or kerosene type heater then you need to have ventilation. A non electric heater consumes oxygen and can deplete the oxygen where you are sleeping. Carbon Monoxide poisoning is a killer so please be careful when using heaters in enclosed spaces. This goes for portable generators as well. They need to be well away from where you are sleeping.

Cheers,
James

Absolutely! Lucky for us The Fort has electricity and we will definitely be taking advantage of that!
