As a Minnesotan I'm sure I am among the many across the country experiencing record breaking heat and humidity. After a brutally long, cold, and snowy winter I say bring it on! Plus I tell my kids that it's good practice for Disney when we go the last week of August. I tried to google this, but couldn't get a feel for what the normal heat index is the end of August. I know the average temp is 92, but factor in humidity what do you get? We are at 115 degrees today and I'm thinking that normally it's cooler in Disney. Of course weather does what weather does so anything can happen, but does anyone know the normal heat index?

Anytime in Disney will be perfect and sweating off a few pounds is never a bad idea.:cool1:

Seems like I've posted a challenging question. Can completely understand as I wasn't able to find anything by googling or any of the Disney sites. So if anyone remembers heat indexes from past years, would love to hear from you. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? :rotfl2:

I'll be there the last week of August as well. I'm hoping that it won't be too much of an adjustment. Being from PA we get plenty of humidity and a fair share of heat. We are being hit with the heatwave, too. Heat indices today and tomorrow are well above 100. Good prep. LOL

We will be there the last week of August as well. My DF's Dad lives about 40 minutes outside of Orlando and tells us to be prepared for high temps and lots of humidity. I know that doesn't really help, but I tried :thumbsup2

We are from the NW where all we have had this year so far is gray skies, rain, cool weather, ugh it's like fall. Ready for a change :)

We're going to be there the last week of August too...can't get much hotter than what it is in Jersey this week...

It's been very hot here, too! We're going the 3rd week in August and just hoping that the heat and humidity :headache: won't be as bad in FL as it is here in Tennessee.

Well we were there the last week of August last year and we're going back this year for more:):)
It's really hot. And very very humid. I only remember one day of our last trip where I really couldn't stand it though. That was a day we broke our own rule of leaving mid day for a swim. Bad plan. We were a cranky tired bunch.
You can't go at the same pace you would in February, but it is doable if you plan, drink water, take breaks to cool off and make use of all the air conditioned attractions :)

Thanks everyone! I have to agree with everyone that it can't be as hot and humid as we have had it lately. And if it is, well, it's Disney! Plus in and out of a/c will help keep us cool. AND winter was long, cold, and just plain nasty. We deserve sunshine and warmth! At least that's what I keep telling myself and my family!

See everyone in August! You'll be able to tell us dis'ers by the big smiles on our faces.:)

Hi everyone!!

We've been to Disney twice the last week of August!! It's hot and humid! I have a "personal" rainshower every time!! :lmao: Expect that late afternoon rain!! :wizard: I like going during that time because there are fewer crowds...less wait in lines!!:rotfl: Plus you get into the a/c airs faster!!

We had to cancel our trip for August this year due to economic issues at home!! :sad1:

Hope you all have a great time! I'll be thinking of you hangin' with my man Mickey!!:upsidedow

We will be there from Aug 22nd-28th. We bought misting fans to try to keep cool. Not too thrilled about carrying them around but it'll be worth it I'm sure! Here in SC we are having the hottest days we've had all summer. Good times people...GOOD TIMES!!!:lmao:

Oh, I just want to add:

WE ARE EXACTLY ONE MONTH AWAY FROM OUR FIRST DISNEY TRIP!!!

You can expect the heat index to be at or near 100 degrees that time of year. Even into September and early October it is sweltering. The terrible heat that your East Coasters experienced this week is typical southeast weather this time of year. We live in south Alabama and 100+ daily heat indexes are normal for August.

As a Seattleite and after having days, and days, and days, and days, and days, and days of NO SUN and high temps of 62 in JULY:rotfl2: part of me is really looking forward to the heat. I mean tuesday it was cold and rainy and we were in sweats!

We'll be there the last week of August too. Went last year at the same time and its was hot but we're doing it again so not hot enough to keep us away!

Last week in August for us too! Looking at my ticker and getting even MORE excited! :cool1: I was wondering about the heat index, too...just hoping for a little cool-down to make our first trip a little mor bearable. :confused3 it could happen...

Heat index 95+ and super humid with daily afternoon thunderstorms... and sorry not a chance in hell of it cooling off any time soon. we usually melt in Halloween costumes and more often than not run the air conditioner while cooking Thanksgiving dinner so there's no way you'll see it cool off in August. Sorry. Your best bet is to take advantage of emh so you're at least out of the sun.
