Heat And Crowds

Need an opinion on the heat and crowds in the month of Aug. Being a Canadian I am not a fan of really hot weather. How bad is it in Orlando or California. How about the crowds? I have been in Orlando in early May and found that reasonable but a little concerned with Aug.

As for Orlando, it depends on when in August you plan on going!

Yes, it will be definatley hot and humid with thundershowers in the afternoon. But these usually clear up. If it's the last week of August, crowds should have died down due to the local school kids are back at school but will pick up again for Labour Day Weekend.

As for California, don't know. :confused3

We were there the last 10 days of August last year...crowds are quite low with the exception of Labour Day weekend but with free dining again it might be slightly busier. It is VERY HOT and HUMID! Animal Kingdom was the worst and in the other parks you are basically in and out of a/c all day. I know they are expecting bad hurricanes again this year but Orlando usually only gets the rain. It pretty much rains every day but not for too long. :sunny:

DW was there in Aug a number of years ago and she equates it to this you know our 35 plus degree days picture that only add Humidity to that she said it was about 40-45 every day and the humidity was a killer but the rain helped a bit in teh afternoon. They didn't care because they were at Disney but man I wouldn't step foot out of my hotel room if it were like that and I was there. Last May we went for a week and it was mid to high 90's every day and 90+% humidity it was terrible so I can only imagine what Aug will be like.

It's very hot and humid but (as previously mentioned), most US schools go back sometime in August meaning the last week of August is really uncrowded (at least, it has been the last two years...even more uncrowded than early Feb this year). Actually, last year, every ride was a complete walk-on except for Living with the Land and Tomorrowland Speedway. :confused3

LOL I remember a couple of years ago we were there right up until May 12th and I was never so glad to come home as the heat and humidity was atrocious!!!! I can't even imagine the summer months. :sad2:

:sunny: We were at WDW for the last 10 days in August last summer (with the free dining). Although it was hot we did a number of things to combat the heat: we usually went to the parks early, left around noon for a swim at the resort or hit the water parks and we returned later in the evening when it was cooler. A couple times we stayed all day but cooled off in the air conditioned attractions in the pm and carried around one of the spray bottle fans to cool off.

California is hot in August but it is more of a dry heat than humid like Florida. However with the free dining at WDW this Aug my advice would be to go Florida because in the end this will save you $$$$$$$$$. WDW is a better value IMHO.

What does being a Canadian have to do with your dislike of hot weather? I'd take hot weather over cold any day.
