We are heading south for a Disney cruise mid October. Not too concerned with the storms right now, nor the price of gas, but I have heard rumors of fuel shortages and limiting the purchases to 10 gallons per vehicle.
Has anyone else heard this? Still a month away so I suspect there will be no problems, but still a slight concern at this point.

We just drove home from WDW this weekend....we encountered some stations with no regular gas but they had the mid or high grade gas....the only place we encountered no gas was the Shell station in Mooresville NC, but there was another Shell at the same exit and they had all grades of gas. We did find the gas prices in GA, SC and NC to be the highest....our top price was $4.59 gallon but most averaged $4.09. I wasn't concerned about the prices....only that I was able to get enough gas to get home, which we did.

I had heard on the Trip advisor forums that they were limiting gas in Georgia (one of the regular contributors on that forum lives there and said that folks were being limited in their purchases), however, I can't imagine it being a real problem now that Ike :scared1: has passed through Houston and the power is back on at the refineries. Things should settle down soon. :yay:

In teh Carolinas some stations are limiting you to a max of 10 galons. Ike managed to detroy according to MSNBC 10 platforms and damage lots of sections of the pipeline so I can see higher than average prices and limitations for a bit in some states like GA and NC/SC and possibly Florida.

Cnn has a story this AM about irrational behavior the cause. There just aint no gas shortage. Of course this could just be propaganda from the industry. But locally for me (Maine, that is southern New Brunswick Right?) gas has only gone up about 25 cents from last week.

Experts: 'Irrational' behavior drives gas prices more than Ike
