Its that time of year again. I'm wracking my brain trying to come up with a list of healthy snacks to send with the kids. I'd appreciate any suggestions. These are the ones I curently use. Can't require refrigeration.

* baby carrots and ranch dressing
* small cheese chunks & ritz
* grapes
* apple slices (with & without carmel dip)
* small container of applesauce

Thanks for the help.

I have been trying to come up with some ideas other than just sending a granola bar every day. Here are a few we came up with

-mini bagel and cream cheese
-strawberries with a bit of vanilla yougurt to dip in
-cheese cubes and pretzel sticks
-homemade muffins
-banana
-zucchini or banana bread
-greek yogurt with honey (her favorite)

Last year my DD really liked to take those little Dannon yogurt drinks. This year the only drink they can have in the classroom is water.

I'm interested in this too. This past week was DD's first week of school. I sent:

crackers with sunbutter
apple slices with cinnamon yogurt dip
mini sweet peppers (was going to send hummus with this but she didn't want it)
cheese crackers and laughing cow cheese wedges
babybel cheese

Tonight she asked me "did you know OREOS came in a BAR??" So we will see how long I can hold on to healthy snacks!popcorn::

Hope this helps!

We make our own trail mix, things like raisins, craisins, sunflower seeds, cheerios, chex cereal, goldfish, really, anything that your kids like, mix it up in a big airtight container, and scoop some in a baggie each day. With 3 kids it doesn't last long, so we start over with different items to change it up.

DD also likes hummus/celery or carrots or pretzels, I also make homemade pita chips, it's way cheaper.

We do a lot of what's already mentioned too.

It's funny, because DD's class is really emphasizing healthy snacks so much, it's almost a competition to see who can bring the really healthy items. There's no way my DD would ask to bring Oreos, lol, not because she wouldn't want to eat them, but becaue the kids give each other grief that they have a healthier snack! :upsidedow

I know my school is not too happy with nut snacks because of allergies. I was thinking of maybe "healthy" cookies ~ oatmeal or carrotcake. I'm bored with my regular list.

String cheese
frozen go-gert
apples slices with peanut butter (if there are no allergy issues)
sugar free jello
cheerios
banana

We usually do applesauce cups, pretzels/trailmix, whole wheat crackers (with laughing cow cheese since she carries a coolpack), stringcheese/cubes or any piece of fruit that is in the house. DD11 also likes the v8 drinks or horizon milks.

DD likes mini rice cakes, popcorn, dry cereal (cheerios/rice chex etc), turkey breast roll ups, watermelon or any cut up fruit/fruit salad(in a thermos jar).
