Healthcare workers - has your employer mandated the flu vaccine?

Are there any people working in the healthcare setting that are required to get the seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines? My job (hospital) has told everyone that it is mandatory now. Just wondering what other hospitals are doing.

In NY, it's mandatory for all health care providers to be vaccinated by Nov 30. They're providing the seasonal flu, and once they have the H1N1, they will provide that as well.

I had to get a flu shot per the hospital I work for. Iam mad but need my job.

I don't work in the medical field but our company (newspaper) is offering (not requiring) employees free flu shots

I work in a hospital; they have stopped just short of mandating it, but they are "strongly encouraging" us to get it. There are consequences if you refuse, but they're also offering prizes and such (via drawings, you get a shot, your name goes in) to encourage it.

The big problem I have is that the flu is here in full force, the ER is constantly packed, etc., and they aren't even going to give the shots until the end of this month. I'm guessing it may be too late for a lot of employees by then.

No they haven't mandated, but they do strongly urge. They also offer it a million ways from Sunday at all hours of the day and night.

Our hospital has mandated the seasonal flu vaccine.

So far, they say the H1N1 vaccine will be optional. However, we don't have any yet, so it's kind of a moot point right now. ;)

I work for a hospital and had a reaction to the seasonal flu vaccine 2 years ago- if they mandate it, there's no way I can have it. Wonder what they do then.

Ours mandated it for seasonal flu, not H1N1. Of course, if you have allergies or religious objections, you are exempt.

I work in home health care. The flu shot is offered but really no pressure.

If we don't get the vaccine, we have to sign off that we opted out, and need to wear a mask till March 1 2010. The goal is to have 95% compliance. When the H1N1 comes available.....they will go in order of who needs it the most, direct care givers, persons working in the units, admiting, etc. Still have to have a mask for not getting it.

For the others where it is mandatory what do they do if you can't have the shot? We haven't heard yet if we are getting it this year.

If you can't have the shot, then we are required to wear masks.

Seasonal is offered for free. Highly encouraged. But not required! :)

I work for an Article 28 health center in NY- and yep- it's mandated by the state.

Right now we MUST get our seasonal flu shot unless there you have a health contradiction.

As for H1N1, we got our first shipment of the vaccine this week. However, with it being the mist, a lot of our employees (including me) cannot get it due to a health contradiction. Therefore, the H1N1 will only be mandatory for those that can get the mist until the shot comes out.

Neither are mandatory at my hospital and they have sent out emails that if someone opts to get the flu mist version of either, they will not be allowed to work for 7 days.

DH works for a hospital in NYC---get it or get fired! He got it!
