Hello-- I love the disboards because not only for the savings but the connections of information from others. Has anyone experienced a burning sensation of their skin like razor burn? I am not on any mess but have been fighting a bad cold, had a crown put on and a ton of stress. I am just looking for information on where to start. It came on out the blue. I am so scared about MS or fibromyalgia. My muscles are sore too like arm and calfskin. I feel alone and wonder if there is anyone else who experienced this. Thanks......

I'm not sure what you mean by you feel "all alone." If you are in pain (like a burning sensation somewhere,) is there a reason you can't go see the Doctor and discuss your symptoms?

Shingles? That's the first thing I thought of.

Erythema nodosum? My daughter experienced a bout of this while battling ulcerative colitis which is an autoimmune disorder.

Hope your symptoms resolve soon.

I also thought shingles. Is the pain/burning on one side of your body? Shingles follows the nerves in the body and, IIRC, is usually only on one side. It starts as terrible, terrible pain then the blisters develop. The pain is excruciating. I'm not sure of your age but it's not just an "old person's" illness. I had it when I was 10.

Take any new medicines or vitamins? Burning skin is a very common side effect of a whole lot of drugs and things like niacin.

It is all over my body. I have been suffering a bad cold and actually went to the dentist the day before this happened and had to have a tooth built up for a crown that popped off. My joints ache also. I have a doctors appointment on Thursday. I'm just really scared and trying to figure out how to over come this. :(

my gf is allergic to some foods. Dairy and Egg make her really tired, however Apples give her a burning sensation on whatever part of the body it touches. So any type of body wash she has to watch out for.

You might want to look into that. She found out with a blood test at an allergy doctor.

And if you feel lonely and depressed your more than welcome to pm me. I will gladly talk to you about whatever for however long you want. I'm sure there are others on these forums that would like to talk to you also.

That's what I immediately thought of as well. Shingles are often brought on by stress. Pain is "usually" only on one side of the body, but not always. The pain can start several days before the rash breaks out. It can also start with flu-like symptoms minus a fever.

I just wanted to say sorry you are feeling so sick :( I hope you can get an appointment w your doctor. Maybe they can put your mind at ease.

I am just feeling despair and really trying to push it to the side because I still have three boys to take of. My husband says to see the doctor but he doesn't understand what it's like to have skin that feels like razor burn right now :(

Holy cow---when did your symptoms begin? I want to look into this also. I'd like to keep in touch and compare process and support when the pain is bad. Are you interested? If so I can send you my direct email address.

For peace of mind I would see the doctor tomorrow instead of waiting till Thursday

You mention that you went to the dentist and had a crown put in. Did the dentist give you some kind of a prescription? If so, maybe it's a reaction to the medication -- if this is the case, call the dentist to report a side effect.

Is your skin red? if you have a sore throat and a red rash, that could be scarlet fever, which goes with strep throat.

My next thought would be hives or some sort of rash. I would try to get to a doctor and have it looked at ASAP. If it's not better by morning, I would consider going to a walk in clinic.

In the meantime, I personally would probably take a shower, put some lotion on my skin and take some benadryl or something like that, but I'm not a professional.

I don't know how you feel, but you are not alone. I will be praying for you. Let us know how things are going..

I know exactly how you feel, I have been having the same symptoms for the past 3 years. My family Doctor thinks It might have MS but my Neurologist has run all test to confirm MS and all tests are coming back negative to state that MS is the problem. Not sure where your burning sensations are coming from. When i get the burning sensation in my lower extremities it is actually my lower back. I have 2 bulging disks and osteoarthritis in my SI joint. Talk to the doctor about these to issues. I had and MRI done on my back and SI Let me know if you want to talk. I can try and help you as much as I can.

Please go to the emergency room or minor med. It sounds like an allergic reaction. At the very least, try to take some Benadryl to see if you can eliminate the sensation.

I suddenly became allergic to Penicillin and had the same reactions you seem to be having of the burning on my skin. Of course my DH didn't believe me at the time so didn't go to the ER. ( a long story) New allergies can happen overnight. Please don't wait till later in the week to find out what's going on with you.

You're not alone!! We and your family are there for you.

Janice-- did you say you do have MS. Was there anything they could do for skin feeling? My skin is not red or anything. I took my last zpack dose for cold almost a week ago. This is just sad and frustrating.

go see a doc,OP..that said, logically based on Op's story it could easiy be a reaction to the strong meds/antibiotics for the dental procedure,if not an outright reaction then your body reacting to the loss of the 'good' bacteria',while likely introducing 'bad' bacteria thru the procedure- go see you doc- take some GOOD probiotic supplements(check a health food store)- I have bad itchy skin from time to time, taking homeopathic sulfur helps a lot.(health food store) It's good to try to help yourself too while waiting on that docs appt.

Just throwing it out there- I had issues with my skin, joint pains, constant tiredness, etc. and underwent tons of tests with multiple doctors only to end up solving it on my own after months of suffering with a vegan gluten free diet for 21 days (turns out it was gluten! As long as I don't consume it the problems stay away).
A lot of people are intolerant to gluten because of the pesticides used nowadays and lots of people are intolerant to dairy. Allergy tests don't pick up on this but the symptoms that happen vary significantly from person to person and it's just always a good thing to do for 21 days to find out. Introduce one thing first after 21 days and then the other a week later and just see how you feel.

I have had friends react with burning skin to milk so this is why I say this, these intolerances can start taking their toll practically overnight.

Not a doctor, just sharing what worked for me. Got the idea of Kris Karr's book: crazy sexy diet.
