We are having a huge problem EMBLOM my parents medical insurance company. Short story-we entered the information online very carefully for my mother and father. My father came back with the wrong one.

After much battling we reentered info and instead of getting our confirmation we got someone elses. We got all their personal info. From Credit Card to Social Security and address, everything.

Now the plan EMBLOM says we picked has huge co payments. Which we would never do for my father because he has Cancer. He is about to go into hospital because he has pneumonia.

We get disconnected, we call back and get a loud blast like a horn and line goes dead, try again and get wierd echo noise when the automated voice comes on.

I'm worried that someone got all my fathers info. also. Is there anything I should do or say. Their system is obviously very screwed up.

That is NOT good. I work for an insurance company and we have had errors like this in the past. What we have done to correct it is that we offer anyone who was effected by the breach credit monitoring of all 3 credit bureau's for 1 year free of charge.

Not sure if there is anything you can do except maybe join a credit monitoring service so you know right away if someone has done something with his private info...

That is very scary OP. The worst thing that ever happened to me insurance wise was when my ex's insurance sent me a confirmation letter that they would send me copies of everything on my kids (which I requested in writing with MY kids' names, dates of birthes, and that as my ex would never send me anything and I needed to know what was going on since I also have a secondary insurance on the kids) and then proceeded to list the kids. Funny thing was that they listed 2 of MY kids and the baby my ex claimed was NOT on his insurance as he was trying to get off paying more child support by saying my kids were the only ones on his insurance. I did contact the insurance company and found it to be a typo that they would be sending the info for the correct kids and I let my ex know it was a mistake by the insurance company but I have held onto that letter as to prove Karma to my ex. Someone's mistake, in this case, was helpful.

OP I would seriously be contacting the credit bureaus and if you have any contact information (ie phone number) on the other person's information, I would contact them as well. Not sure who else to contact though. I hope it gets figured out and just let the hospital know the situation. Also, can your father qualify for Medicaid/Medicare?? I would look into those if you have not.

My prayers for your father and your family. Hopefully he goes into remission quickly.

Just found the website State Insurance Commission and when I finally get through to Emblom I'll request free credit monitoring.

Thank you everyone I really appreciate this advice!
Anything else?

The DIS Boards are incredible, where else would I get this important information so quickly.

This is a huge HIPPA violation, it can cost the insurance company up to $250,000 in fines. Hopefully they will not give you any greif, but still it needs to be reported.

Good Luck

:thumbsup2, OP, I hope that you father will get the care and treatment he needs. I will say a prayer for the both of you and your family:hug:

Thanks everyone. When they tried to give the run around, I did say I was going to call the State Insurance Commission and Newsday. It was amazing she then put me on hold for about 10 minutes and we were switched over to the insurance we needed with an hour and gave us her Direct number.

My father was able to go to the hospital without worrying about insurance problems which is great. He refused to go earlier with these insurance issues looming.

I feel so bad for older people who have no on to take care of this stuff for them. My parents at 85 never would have been able to handle this. It took all day with about a dozen calls.
Thanks for everyones support and help.
