Hello everyone,

I do not have a full time job but have two parttime jobs, because there are no full time jobs in my field within 2 hour drive. Been looking for a long time and want to stay in feild I'm trained for.

But I am paying $1000 a month for insurance, plus rent, all all other bills. I basically cannot do it anymore I've drained accounts, etc.

But after losing close family members to cancer, I'm totally paranoid about having no insurance for myself and kids.

So I see for state insurance kids cannot be covered by health insurance. Is there any other way to do this? Anyone with any ideas?
Thank you for any info.

My friend got Child Health Plus for her kids (through the state) when she lost her job. She got a separate policy for her and her husband. It was the only way at the time she was able to afford to carry health insurance.

Kids can absolutely get insurance from the state in NY! Child Health Plus, Medicaid, or even Healthy NY for those not eligible for free insurance.

Very odd first post.

Apply for the full time job that is two hours away and then move closer with the companies moving package.

Thanks all, I'm actually applying to all states on the east coast and I"m willing to move.

But I read that kids need to NOT have insurance for a certain amount of time. That's what I'm worried about. I don't want to take them off insurance and have really struggled to keep them on insurance. Is that true?

I know in my friend's circumstance, she had the insurance for her children lined up and ready to begin for the day her family insurance ended after loosing her job. She didn't want them to be uninsured for even one day.

Red through the link for Child Health that is posted. It might not be free for you, but it could be a very low cost alternative.

Another person that was laid off at the same time as the friend above, we were a department that was closed, found low cost insurance for herself for just under $200.00 a month. It did have restrictions though. I seem to remember her saying it would cover 3 Dr. visits a year, yearly gynecological and emergency/hospital visits. For drug prescriptions, she signed up for the pharmacy, CVS or Rite Aid etc... plan.

Good luck, I really feel for those of you who struggle to pay such high amounts for family health care policies.
