I have multiple contracts, and on at least 2 contracts, the system was not able to pick up my borrowed points and enforce the 50% limit in the system. I was completing a reservation and the system allowed me to borrow more than 50% of that contract. It wasn’t until I look at my vacation point balance and saw a 2021 UY contract fall below 50% that I realized the mistake. Had to call member service to swap points and fix it. It’s a VGC reservation and I don’t want to find out if they will really automatically cancel it within 7 days!
The 50% limit did work on one of my other contracts - i.e. the available to borrow balance decreased as I borrow. But on these two contracts, 50% of my full points was aways available to borrow despite having used some borrowed points on these contracts. I imagine the booking system is different, they built a separate system to check for this 50% rule on a recurring basis, and both systems are not talking to each other. If I had not caught this mistake, I do think my reservation will be canceled, and if I call in they will say we are sorry but too bad you should have known the rules.
