Head's Up/AirTran June Schedule Changes

When checking AT for Oct. availability I checked our June 17-24, flights PIT/MCO RT. Flight times have changed - AGAIN!
Of course, no advisory email was ever received.

Flight down isn't too bad (will get into MCO couple hours later) but, coming back is another story:

*Booked flight last Nov., it was supposed to leave @ 7:50 p.m.;

*Found out the same way as above, it was moved to 5:50 p.m.;

*Now, it's leaving @ 9:00 a.m.!!! WTH

We gave up our reward travel on that flight (someone jump on it quick!) and changed to a connecting flight thru Atlanta that leaves @ 8:35 p.m. but, doesn't get us to PIT until 12:34 a.m.!

My problem was compounded by the fact that I'm flying on a combo of vouchers/rewards - 6/18 & 6/25 are black out dates.

I was just coming to post the same thing, our flight in May has been changed. Going to WDW is still the same but now instead of leaving to come home at 6:00 or so it is now 3:30..I am not happy.
It looks as though they are really eliminating a lot of the non stop flights, and all the flights that do leave WDW later do not get into Phila until after midnight, that is just crazy.
...and since our flights are still a few months away, they would not notify us for quite a while...and even if we try now to change our plans and flights I am sure they will change them as well.

There is now only the 1 NS in & out of PIT/MCO route for June.

After reading this post and all of my flights (a total of 3 since I am flying to Baltimore to DS house the day before to help with DGS & DGD on the flight to Orlando) have been changed. Our flight from Orlando to Baltimore was actually cancelled. They had me on a flight through Atlanta with a nearly 4 hour layover. I was not happy.
All of the new flights are earlier Too.

Phew! Just checcked our June/July flights and no change. We had major changes to our departure flight twice. Sorry to boast but it was to our advantage. We toook the flights offered because we were only paying $202 which is teh best we've ever paid for any flight to MCO. However, we arrived at 4:15 PM on the first day. A month ago it was changed to leave almost 2 hours earlier and now we arruve at 2:25....much better.

I just check the website every Sunday for changes. Sun Country is the only airline that has ever notified me of a flight change. NWA, AA, and AT have not and have changed multiple times.

Glad yours was beneficial...still not thrilled about having a connecting flight home but, in retrospect - better than a 9:00 a.m. flight out (especially since we were doing the MK late EMH the night before.

Youngest DS is excited, gets to add Georgia to list of states he visited.LOL
if I was "cheap" instead of frugal, we'd just skip the hotel room that night & head for the airport after the park closes @ 3:00 a.m.

What airport do you fly out of PIT (pittsburgh?)...there's a Dayton up north where my son works.
PIT's down to 1 NS each way, wondering if Phillie got the same royal treatment...

I just read all the posts about AirTran changing times. Forgive my ignorance, but...how do I check if my flights have been changed?

caseyem67 - if you've registered on the AT site, go to your account & check reservations. If not, just pull up the flight (as if you'd be pricing it out).

mseg16222 - who hasn't hear of the "Big Dayton Fair"? My oldest DS works @ West Shamokin H.S. as head football coach, great area, wonderful folks.

As to booking for August, I book as soon as the flights are released due to using reward points (the seats go fast). I've been flying them for a few years and a pattern has emerged with flight times changing several times beforehand w/o email notif. and elimination of many NS flights. I realize they need to be lean & mean but moving a flight time back by 10 hours is ridiculous IMO.

I haven't seen AT offering any flights to MCO for less than $69 1/way lately.

Not sure if your travel dates are after SWA's last release (8/3?) but, they currently offer more direct flights to/from MCO.

I'm sorry I didn't book a return flight w/them when they first came out. The cheap seats have sold out for our dates & 1 way for 3 is ove $410! They'll probably offer DINGS a month or two out but, I'm a chicken.

Oh that is too funny, my boys are too young for football yet but I remember a lot of the coaches over the years from there. My brother played when it was Shannock Valley. And as for the Great Dayton Fair, I am not proud to say that I was fair queen back in 93....a long time ago.

Flights for AT for August are still $99 each way.......not bad I do realize but I want better

Flight going to Disney changed from leaving at 8:20am to 11:48am. I have an ADR for 2pm that day!
Coming home the flight time was 6:20pm. It is now 9am!
NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure where your ADR was for 2:00 p.m, but if the plan was going to arrive near Noon, you might have had a tuff time making it. Can easily take you 1 hour+ to get out of MCO, especially if you need to stand in a rental car line (we've waited nearly an hour around the same time @ Alamo in the past). Good luck w/your plans. The last flight out, connecting thru Atlanta is still avail...they'll let you switch "free".

I keep telling myself what a deal I've got! Trading a NS flight for one w/an hour layover in Atlanta & change of planes. Only bright spot is maybe they'll lose a piece of our luggage again.

It's a little early to be sending emails out about flight schedules for June. It varies by airline, but that's typically done no later than three weeks before the flight date.

Assume you don't fly AT on a regular basis. They are infamous for not advising schedule changes.

Every time I've called them to complain, whether it's 6 months or 1 month out, they INSIST that a advisory email had already been sent out. I've gotten 1 in 3 years of flying them (no, they're not in my spam folder either). Of course, their weekly sale emails manage to reach me.

When I changed my flights on Saturday, I requested that confirmation be sent. Res. said I'd have it in a few minutes - yep, I'm still waiting.

The lack of response is particularly distressing when I have to convert my reward points (that I earn mostly w/CC usage) to vouchers. Can be a challenge trying to obtain the number over the phone.

This is the sorry level of cust. service that comes w/discount carriers I'm afraid.

i booked AT for our Sept trip-- non stop flights going out early and back later in the PM-- hopefully they dont change-- however if they do,

you can complain and cx your flight cant you-- if they cannot accomodate YOUR schedule- i would hope you can cx. i understand some people CANT cx- however, you CAN if you want to right??? I need to get to disney EARLY in the A!!

I'm already using a credit from tix that I purchased last Dec. & cancelled once reward travel opened up.

Assume, if you paid for your tix, they'd refund your money (sure they'd try to talk you into rescheduling or a credit 1st).

DH thinks they'll probably change them 1 more time before June (probably reinstate a NS eve flight grrrr!)

Ok, things have changed for us since my not happy post.
We are adding another day at Disney. Air tran is going to change our tickets to the next day at no cost.
Adding another day with dining at POP is around $180. We are cancelling the rental car booked though Disney.(saves $174) Booking a car directly through alamo for $144.So bottom line pricing $150 for an extra Disney day.
Happy again!
